2018- New year – New beginnings – Resolutions

Hello everyone, First of all let me say Thank you for all the emails you have sent, The phone calls and Sms Messages. I know this year I am a bit late in posting this post, Almost a Week has gone by already in the new year.

I know  we all during this period make some resolutions, So what all resolutions have you guys made this year, I rarely manage to keep any resolution that I make but this year I am hoping it will be different (fingers crossed),  I am hoping to loose weight over years I have become a Fat old man so want be a thin old man 🙂  and Eat healthy.

Blogging has been good to me over the years, here on word-press its been 7 years , This blog is now 7 years old in this journey I have come to know so many wonderful human beings,  I could write a few posts on just mentioning each one, the list is so very long.  I do pray to god that I am able to learn how to be a good human from all of you.  Over years I have made some very good friends Even if we have not met , or chatted maybe talked once or twice over the years, But It does seem that I know them very well reading there articles. I have some favorites too, and for some I am favorite,  for some an elder Brother and Even for some like a son.. I hope I have not let anyone down. I just hope and wish that all these beautiful relations remain till the end of time …Let me please Take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone who click on the link knowingly or unknowingly ..

Some of you have stood by me in my personal problem times and Good times .. Some of you hate me , some love me .. What I have found is its true things change.. Change in Inevitable , Some have just brushed past, Some who stood by me THEN have turned their back now… Another Thing true is out of sight out of mind.  I have been very irregular in the last few years, so people have forgotten me 🙂 but its OK God bless them all.

Hopefully one of these days I will learn the ART or become as the world is 🙂

This post is dedicated to All the people who read what I write. Over the time I am sure I have offended a lot of you out there Let me take this opportunity to say Sorry to anyone and everyone who I let down for any reason..

11-11-17

I know its past that date now, But nevertheless I like to think about it , as it reminds me of Home..  India and My dad   He would celebrate my birthday every year , I was a grown up man but that did not stop him, he always made sure that on 11th Nov he had a few of my friends invited a few of his friends to celebrate, I remember his craze for Poori Cholle , he would always order them from Sindhi’s sector 17 Chandigarh) as my dad’s office was on top of their shop :),  that was one  dish Always on the menu on my birthdays.. along with  Samosa’s , Jalebi’s , and off course the CAKE.

One of my friends had an Aunt who made cakes on special orders, so the cake use to come from the aunt in Sector 18 Every-year, A BIG FRESH CREAM CAKE.

I remember the last time we had a celebration,  there was a guy playing the DHOL a few houses down the road and My uncle went and brought him over to play the Dhol suddenly it became a Dance party with everyone dancing to the Tune of the DHOL. What a beautiful HAPPY day it was ..

Sadly since I came to uk it never happened and I miss it, I guess we will never be able to get rid of that little kid in our hearts ever and now that my Dad is no more I doubt anyone will have the time or the energy to organize all that, so a Big Big Thank you to Dad for being so good and kind to me always, even though we sometimes did not meet eye to eye.

So this year too the 11th of the 11th came 🙂   Yes.. it was that day again today , when I was born, and the world had to be put in turmoil to endure me till I Live, whatever anyone might say I do feel that November is the best Month and the 11th is the best day.. Plus it has a nice ring to it 11th of the 11th ..

Although this year a little celebration happened from the 10th itself, I was meeting someone in the lovely buzzing city of London for lunch, it took a bit of an effort to find a restaurant at The SHARD, The name suggested it was a Chinese place , the name being “Shangri-La” but it was not :), although the views on the 35th floor were just awesome.

I was not impressed much with the food though but the company was lovely and I loved that ..  and I Got a gift too 🙂

11th started as usual till I saw my phone with so many messages , people wishing me and to read all that first thing in the morning is always a good feeling,  The only thing letting the day down was I was working 🙂  but hey ho it was not as if there was going to be a party in the evening 🙂

With each passing year it seems the good old days are being left behind, fewer and fewer people remember each other but I guess that’s the way of the world these days..

Online Booking

I have been trying to book some tickets on-line recently  and realized that it is becoming a real challenge to book tickets on-line or maybe its my age :). People say that on-line booking is very easy , it also is the new trend but there are some aspects of on-line booking I just don’t understand..

The first being What is this new thing you have to do.. Type a PHRASE or what they Call CAPTCHA , it’s like a challenge or  some sort of literacy test that you have to go through before you can actually go on to book your ticket, Look at the pictures and select a few with common themes, or a collection of letters hiding behind each other, as if we are playing hide and seek game. ..

So you have to copy that word in a new text box exactly same, you copy it – you press the OK button – it comes back saying NO .. they don’t match.. TRY AGAIN..  someone like me gets stuck on that page for half an hour , so much waste of time for a damn ticket which is supposed to be on-line the fastest mode of booking tickets.

What gets me more is when it comes up with all these options or Suggestions , especially with a slogan People who bought this also searched for this etc etc, I mean how does it matter to me what people searched on, none of my business. All I want to do is book or buy a product on-line, Why do I need to know about other stuff, If I want than I will go to their website or search for them.

Another thing that makes me cross is the address page,  You have to fill in your name your surname your first line of address etc etc, the fun starts when you reach the last column that says COUNTRY..  You press the drop down button it has hundreds of countries (Have you noticed how many names there are)…

Since I live in England I have a real battle because you go down the line to find the country called England, it’s not there 🙂  I try for Britain or  great Britain that is also not there , I have to scroll down to the bottom to find united kingdom, Why do I need to do that I mean is it not common sense that when I am logging into a website which has a web-address of lets say ABCDEFG.co.uk in the end, then that .co.uk is a BIG HINT to tell that there is a high chance of me living in UK, so why is that box not auto populated with UNITED KINGDOM, and if I have to change , I can always press that drop down button and change.

The other day I did a search for cinemas in Leicester, it brought me list of cinemas in Leicester, I isolated to a cinema near me Leicester again when I tried booking and putting the address the country drop-down had every country , NOW tell me who in their SANE mind will be coming from  INDIA or Afghanistan to watch a movie in Leicester surely the country in the list should be the local country, I mean I have selected a local cinema in Leicester which is in England and the first country that comes is Angola or Afghanistan so who is sitting in Angola early in the morning and saying  “hmmmmmmmmm  I’m thinking… I am going to watch Kong Skull Island in Leicester today, because I  am so sick of my local multiplex cinemas.. I will go and watch a movie in Leicester and this is for an afternoon show today at 2:30 p.m. Can anyone get there from Angola for 2:30 p.m. Show today ”

Anyway so once you put your address , next thing you have to do is put your e-mail address on the booking form not once but TWICE.. as they want you to confirm the e-mail address that I have typed … HELLLO I know what my e-mail address is, I’ve been using it for the last 15 years why are you testing me on my own e-mail address..

You have not asked me to confirm anything else, You did not ask me to confirm my name, my address but I know why they want you to confirm e-mail address.. More on that in the next post ..

11-11-16 – Day 11

Yes.. it’s that day again today , when I was born, and the world had to be put in turmoil to endure me till I Live, whatever anyone might say I do feel that November is the best day and the 11th is the best day.. Plus it has a nice ring to it 11th of the 11th ..

This is the first year in more than a Decade that I will be not working , so I guess that is a birthday blessing in itself. 🙂  Back in India friends have already started the celebrations and are now making me jealous .. 😦   GOD I MISS YOU ALL…

	Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us, and you’re inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?
	Border Collie: Just one. And then I’ll replace any wiring that’s not up to Mark too.
	Dachshund: You know I can’t reach that stupid lamp!
	Rottweiler: Make me.   Dare Ya!!!!
	Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.
	German Shepherd:I’ll change it as soon as I’ve led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven’t missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.
	Jack Russell Terrier: I’ll just pop it in while I’m bouncing off the walls and furniture.
	Chihuahua : Yo quiero Taco Bulb. Or ‘We don’t need no stinking light bulb.’
	Greyhound: It isn’t moving. Who cares?
	Labrador: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!
	Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.
	Poodle:I’ll just blow in the Border Collie’s ear and he’ll do it.. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.
