Zara Dholiya Dhol ute Daga lain oye

PUNJAB MERA RAHE WASDA
(Hey the man with the DHOL(drum), beat it , and sing the song, that as a flower is loved by everyone same way let my PUNJAB be loved to , let it live forever)
I remember the time when Punjab state was one of the most rich state, it was supposedly the state which fed the whole of the country .. But over the years things have changed drastically.. first the terrorism and now the political .. Actually hold on let me rephrase that.. The state of Punjab was always given a Step motherly treatment by the centre govt. I am sure no one can deny that.. look what that has done to this state.. (carved three states from one state), then terrorism happened which took us so many years behind , A whole generation of Punjabi youth was finished , disintegrated in those years.. the after math of that we are still feeling and some of us are living the horror.
The Government as usual is only busy in filling their own coffers, no one has time for that man, The man who gets up early morning no matter what the weather is like rainy, chilly, hot … He gets up to go and tend to his farmland, his animals.. a Typical day in the life of a farmer .. I know because I have done it .. been there ..worn the tee 🙂
Get up at the first light of about 4:30/5 in morning , It a different story that if you did not get up the village Gurudwara’s granthi made sure you get up when he started with his daily routine on the Speakers..
Go to the fields to take a round , by the time you got back the ladies in the house had the fire burning, stoves ready .. getting the food ready .. Breakfast would be a Big Mug full of Lassi, with Paranthas… and off to fields .. Tilling the land, sowing the seeds, watering the fields , etc etc a non stop day of work .. work and more work.. with little respite from weather.. sun shining hard and mighty .. or the winter chill going right inside to the bones .. Feet went numb when watering the fields in the middle of the night …
But all that was worth the hardship, when the first green leaf appeared from the soil .. It also meant the start of problems – not one but so many of them …
Typically it is like either the Motor to the tube well burnt cause of the fluctuations in electricity, you get that fixed then there would be a problem with the tubewell itself.. Sometimes the water level would go down , with no water or there was draught like situation… OR it would rain so much that there is excess of water and we get floods…
The farmer has no other way then to go and get a loan from the bank, and hope that next season things will be different, with a bumper crop he can get rid of the loan, and earn some money.. the whole life cycle starts all over again .. but its the same outcome and this time he has not been able to pay the instalment also… So now he has no crop, plus a defaulter with the bank.. he sleeps hungry the one who feeds the whole nation. Farmers have a bad life, they are going to die one day struggling..
What is going to happen to our farmers, not just in Punjab but everywhere its the same story.. We who live in the cities take everything for granted, do we sit for once and think about those who are actually providing for us, We go to a shop and buy the stuff with our money, the money which we MAY have earned after working hard.. but just imagine the plight of that farmer who is working so much harder than us, so we can eat, Yet he does not get what is due to them.
We the people of a great nations are arguing over stupid things , spending hours on useless things, We need to Wake up, All this development that we keep barking about, is not good if the backbone of our country is broken and FARMERS are those backbone of our great nation.
So many farmers are committing suicides these days because of the intense pressure they are living under, it is sad. Every day there is a new story that gets published which tells a horrific story.
BUT A PIECE OF ADVICE TO ALL WHO WANT TO HELP, PLEASE DON’T GIVE TO CHARITIES OR RELIGIOUS BODIES OR POLITICAL BODIES AS ALL THAT MONEY NEVER REACHES THE NEEDY. IF SOMEONE WANTS TO HELP CONTACT THE PEOPLE DIRECTLY.
The SGPC which is a SIKH Religious body has so much money in its account , yet I have never heard any of it being used to save a life of a farmer.
The last time I visited my village we had a game of cricket at 5am in morning some pics..
Let me start this post with a question , How many Indians Know about this day , the 12th Day of September 1897, I know its been a long long time.
I was on a Interactive trip to France (I cant go into details due to some reason), We were a contingent of about 18 Indians , who were BORN in India but immigrated to UK, out of the 18 Indians 6 were Sikhs, during one of the interactive seminars a question was raised by a member of public if We knew about this day, I am not trying to show off or anything here But I did know about this, the reason being I genuinely have interest in Sikh history (Although this day was not just about sikhs, it is about India then).
Out of the 18 only two of us knew the significance of the day which was indeed very shameful. I also only know bits and pieces from what I have read ages ago, So i thought to have another read and share with everyone. This is something that we as a nation should be proud of. Such were the people in those olden days, I do wish we have them back, hopefully our nation can become as great as it CAN BE.
In the North West Frontier Province which was part of British India, On this day 21 Sikh soldiers made a decision that ended up in the ultimate sacrifice and Bravery a Human being can give. These 21 Sikhs from The 36th Sikhs Batallion(now the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment) fought till the last against a 10,000 to 12000 strong Enemy.
To go back in history and from Wikipedia it is learnt that Saragarhi, itself, was basically a small fort with a signalling tower that enabled communications between Fort Lockhart and Fort Gulistan, It had one Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) and twenty troops of Other Ranks (ORs) to protect it and Because of the nature of the place it was very important for the Afghans and its ally’s to capture this place so as to disrupt communication between the two forts.
Saragarhi being a communication link was also a benefit for us now, because the entire battle was broadcast in real time by its signal man, Sepoy Gurmukh Singh, Hence why we today know what exactly happened or have a fairly accurate account of the proceedings.
On that fateful morning Sepoy Gurmukh Singh, the detachment signaller, went up the signalling tower to set up his heliograph and Signalled “ENEMY APPROACHING THE MAIN GATE…NEED REINFORCEMENT” to Lieutenant Colonel John Haughton Commanding Officer of the 36th Sikhs at Fort Lockhart ,the enemy had systematically cut-off the supply route between Fort Lockhart and Saragarhi, hence no help would be immediately available
Fort Lockhart transmitted back: “UNABLE TO BREAKTHROUGH…HOLD POSITION“.
It was a grim situation but the leader of the small Contingent Havildar Ishar Singh called upon his men to make a decision, the Sikhs unanimously agreed to hold the position. Saragarhi flashed back: “UNDERSTOOD“. Undeterred, the Sikh soldiers committed to fighting to the last to prevent the encroaching enemy from reaching the other forts.
The enemy made determined attempts to rush open the gate, but were thwarted back by the valiant soldiers, The Sikh soldiers’ ranks and ammunitions were now beginning to dwindle. Out of the full strength of 21 soldiers at the start of the battle, there now were 10. The battle had gone on from 0900 hrs to 1200 hrs with the Sikhs having fought off the attempts
At 1400 hrs, Sepoy Gurmukh Singh signalled “LOW ON AMMO…NEED AMMO…URGENTLY“. Lt Col Haughton attempted to send his personal orderly to try and pass the ammunition to the trapped Sikhs, but again to no avail.
The enemy set fire to the bushes and scrubs around Fort Saragarhi. Clouds of smoke blanketed the fort, making it impossible for the Sikhs to see the enemy. Soldiers at Fort Lockhart could clearly see the approach of the tribesmen due to their elevated position above Saragarhi. Lt Col Haughton frantically signaled Saragarhi: “ENEMY APPROACHING…THE BREACH“.
Havildar Sardar Ishar Singh was severely injured by this time and ordered the remaining Sikhs to fall back into the inner wall and ordered two Sepoys to drag him towards the breach to buy some time for his men. Out of ammunition all three of them fixed their bayonets charged the enemy, the wall was breached only five Sikhs remained alive. Four in the inner building and Sepoy Gurmukh Singh at the signalling tower. The Sikhs did not give up. Instead they formed an all-round defensive position with their backs against each other and their bayonets pointing outwards fought hand to hand inside the fort.
At 1530 hrs Sepoy Gurmukh Singh, transmitted: “MAIN GATE BREACHED…DOWN TO ONE…REQUEST PERMISSION TO DISMOUNT AND JOIN THE FIGHT“.
Orders came back: “PERMISSION GRANTED“. Sepoy Gurmukh Singh disassembled his heliograph device, picked up his rifle and came down the signalling tower to join the fight. Soldiers at Fort Lockhart saw him disappear into the thick of battle right into the enemy line.
It is Said that The enemy did not want to lose more men in hand to hand fighting , so to avoid getting more of their men killed by a Single Valiant soldier, they set fire to the tower. Sardar Gurmukh Singh perished in the flames shouting at top of his voice repeatedly the Sikh battle-cry “Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal” (Shout Aloud in Ecstasy! True is the Great Timeless One). “Akal,” meaning Immortal, beyond death, the Supreme Creator God unbound by time and non-temporal.
Sardar Gurmukh Singh, the youngest of the Sikhs at 19 years old was credited to have taken down 20 tribesmen single-handedly before succumbing. He was the last to fall at Saragarhi.
“It is no exaggeration to record that the armies which possess the valiant Sikhs cannot face defeat in war” –Queen Victoria, British Parliament 1897
“When the news of the bravery displayed by the Saragarhi battle heroes was flashed to London, the British Parliament gave a standing ovation in a packed house and the fighting qualities displayed by the defenders of ‘Saragarhi post’ received the highest praise all over the world. All the 21 combatant soldiers of the Saragarhi battle were posthumously awarded ‘Indian Order of Merit’, the highest gallantry awards given to Indian soldiers in those days, equivalent to Victoria Cross (VC) at that time and Param Vir Chakra (PVC) of the present day independent India. A rare and unparalleled achievement in a single battle.”
This battle is now part of Study in French Schools, Till I was a student in India this historic battle was never a part of our curriculum, which is quiet shameful actually. Although around year 2000 the Punjab Govt was said to be doing something about it BUT how much they have succeeded I have no clue.
Maybe Someone reading this post from India can tell me ?
The above has been compiled using various sources.

Ps. I have been missing in action for a long time, few things keep coming up keeping me away from blogging. Life is happening as they say. Thank you all for emailing and asking about me, it is much appreciated. THANK YOU ALL.
January is over and although I tried my level best to remain true to the rules of the blogathon , I failed a few times to post a post each day of the month, So sorry for that to the fellow participants and Congrats to all who managed to do it all..
I wanted to finish this little run with something that I believe in and want everyone who comes here to know. I am going to introduce you all to a person who all his life worked for the goodness of human beings, his selfless devotion to mankind. His name is Bhagat Puran singh. Not many KNEW about him because he did not have a AUDI with a Red light atop, He did not wear Silk or Saffron clothes, like every other TOM DICK AND HARRY claiming to be the righteous one.
SADLY we the people have always been lured to the magic of MONEY the magic of SHOW OFF, or SHOW BLITZ.. hundreds million of us go to the Temples – Gurudwara’s to worship, Ask god for this or that all the time , we all seem to get this false happiness in our heart that OH today we visited a holy place so god will be happy with us, We do various things to please the almighty YET we all including me seem to forget the basic teaching given to us by our God’s which says be a good human being, help others do what you can with your heart. NONE of us do that , we go about following the so-called BABA’s , the modern-day BABA’s who have tarnished the reputation of religion to a very low low level.
I have a good friend who is so happy that he boasts that every sunday he goes to the Gurudwara for two hours for SEWA, He stand and helps in washing of utensils, distribution of Langar, Clean the floors BUT I AM SORRY this is not SEWA, not at all, How can it be. Sewa is towards the needy, helping of fellow humans, MAJORITY of the people who visit the religious places are well off and can take care of themselves, So serving them food is not SEWA, or washing their utensils is Not SEWA, he has never done that in his own home.
Anyway Coming back to this man who was in Reality a man of god , and worked all his life in selfless devotion of other humans. HOW many know about him and compared to that how many know about the Rampal’s the nirmal’s. This is the hard truth people who actually work for the good of Man kind are seldom known. What have the so-called BABA’s EVER done which is good of mankind, NAME or Give me one such incident where ACTUALLY these so-called BABA’s have done anything for good other than become RICH.
Same goes for other charities, I think the best paid JOB or BUSINESS is to open up a charity, all the money we give to these charities hardly reaches to the people for whom the charities are set up, the so-called directors of charities are always RICH and MILLIONAIRES.
Our Religious Leaders are always so rich, How come they have so much money, Why are their so many fights over the ownership of a Religious place’s office, because of the Money involved, Today if everyone vows to stop putting money in the money-box of a temple or a Gurudwara all these committee members, the Pardhan’s, The Leaders will VANISH. God does not need money so WHY Are we putting all this money in the money boxes, When has God said give me money , I need money.
It is our fault that we have made it like this, we are so happy to go and put some money in a money-box in a temple, but we would not go out of our way to help a needy person, or even to feed a hungry person. Hence the business of religion has started were we feel that because we have given some money or a lot of money to a religious place , we have done a good deed, God will be happy with us..
People who actually work hard for the good of mankind that too selflessly are rarely rich or have the money to throw around.
Bhagat Puran Singhwas born on June 4, 1904 in Punjab. he has dedicate his life to the ‘selfless service of humanity’. He founded Pingalwara in 1947 with only a few patients, the neglected and rejected of the streets of Amritsar., The govt of india takes so much appreciation for the so-called Green revolution but this man was actually An early advocate of the movement, He was spreading awareness about environmental pollution, and increasing soil erosion long before such ideas became popular in our country,.
He founded a HOME called Pingalwara, a home which long after his death, is still tending to the castaways of society: the sick, disabled and abandoned forlorn people.
It is sad that our governments and leaders go on and on how the needy need to be helped, how they spend so much money for the good of needy, YET none of the so-called CHARITABLE organisations have gone out of their way to help Pingalwara, We the people even will go and donate hundreds , thousands to a Temple or a Gurudwara, A Sadhu comes at our door we will give money to them BUT We hardly take out time to give money to such an institute which is doing so good.
There are hardly any Religious places which do what Pingalwara does, some do but then I find their office bearers take majority of the money for themselves.
Anyway I am not going to go on and on About this man, I am sure everyone has internet so go and do some surfing and Find out about this Great man who sadly passed away in 1992, I think this man’s work does the speaking I or anyone does not need to write essays about him. He shines above all and we need people like him to make our world a better place. So go and Read about this Selfless man, Know about a Kind Human being who teaches us what being a human is .
Also a Movie is made , I saw the trailer a couple of days back, I know some people here who have been so actively involved in the advertising of this movie, I would have been their at the launch of this movie but the last 3-4 weeks have been very catastrophic for me , so I could not go nevertheless do go and see this movie, know about a GOOD MAN.
Visiting pingalwara this year when I come to india is on the list , A lot of good people here are trying to raise some donations for me to carry.. It is an eye-opener to see Life as is in this home, The stories you hear , the smiling faces you see tell the whole story, I could not visit last year due to less time which again I feel is an excuse on my part , I should have made time but god willing this time for sure..

As everyone read the previous post on my special experience with The resort hotel, I have another problem now, it seems the ordeal wants to continue, all my life problems will never leave me or let me have one day of relief. Something or the other keeps hampering, Although I understand this is just a minor issue , people have much bigger problems to handle.
But when little little small small issues get together they seem to take a toil on you. Right so let me give you an update on the previous one ..
07th may 2014 :- I have now received the Cheque for the amount, I had paid . Wish I had blogged and written on Twitter 2 months ago , I could have saved myself the pain. Why could the people at the hotel not do it at the First time , is still a mystery. Thank you all for the concern in the last post. The cheque was couriered to my house in india. So I am very thankful to the people at the Resort.
BUT this has brought another headache now, My father had a account which was used for his salary etc, It was joint account with my Mom, After my Father passed away My Mom and My uncle went to the bank and got it changed to a new account or however they did, and Joint it with me. When they were filling the form , or who ever was filling the form wrote my name wrong, and since My Mom can’t read or write english , she was None the wiser, the Account got made .. in the name of BIKRAM SINGH MANN .. It is a joint account with my Mom.
The Cheque that has been issued by the Resort is in the name of BIKRAMJIT SINGH MANN.
I had asked a friend to go to the bank to get it deposited , they have refused to deposit it because of the Name difference. Hence all the pallava all over again. It’s not the fault of the Resort as that’s the name under which I had booked and emailed them all the time.
I have again had to phone the Resort to tell them what has happened , I was surprised that they put me through the Accounts department directly and Someone actually Talked to me .. and THEY WERE VERY VERY VERYYYYYYYYYY POLITE, thank you to that gentleman (if any of you readers or my friends have bombarded them with phonecalls etc, then it could be because of that too, or maybe almost three months gap made them do that) but nevertheless, they were very polite . He asked me to email the issue to him, and also courier back the wrong cheque to them, then they will re-issue the cheque. FINGERS CROSSED , it will work like a dream everything will be smooth.
BUT… yeah I know there is ALWAYS a BUT.. but what makes me angry (again I know .. doesn’t take much to make me angry these days) , this is common sense , why can’t the bank just accept it , As you can see the cheque is A/C Payee , so there is a proper trial of where the money has come, and where it is going to .. Tomorrow if the bank thinks some other BIKRAMJIT will come and complain where is his cheque then they can find out without a problem what has happened.
Secondly Today they are saying they are having a problem to Deposit the cheque, I have just been to india and withdrawn money with the name BIKRAMJIT, No one batted an eyelid. , Also when they were changing the account after my Dad , did NO ONE see the documentation. I am sure some sort of documentation was provided to the bank and whatever was provided would have had the name BIKRAMJIT SINGH MANN.. Can I sue them for being negligent then 🙂
Here In UK I have never had any problems, I have deposited cheques in my account named.. Mr. B.S.Mann , or Mr. B.Mann or Just Mr. Mann , I have even deposited a cheque with the name BIK MANN. Till now I use to believe what’s in a name .. it’s the person one should know but I have failed miserably.
It’s not just a problem with this bank I have had during my visit I had another with ICICI bank (@ICICI), but I am sure you don’t want to hear another SOB story, So I will keep that Rant for some other time.
As such because of the gap that I was away many of my friends have forgotten me and stopped visiting me , making you all read more sob stories will surly make you all vanish too 🙂 and I don’t want that to happen , now do I ?
Thursday Challenge: GAMES (Chess, Video Games, Card Games, Children’s Games,…)
Although it does not say but I think this can be a Game too.. KIRKIT in my PIND anyone.. aaa jaooo come come , who is party to this one .. without pads , gloves and footwear .. he he he At least we have the Three Stumps though..
This is how to play the game 🙂 come one come all …………………
PS:- I know I have not answered the comments to the previous Post , I will do it ASAP
PSS:- Some Life turning/Changing Situation has come up, So I am not sure when I will be back to blogging, Hope you all don’t leave me by then and I will hopefully see you all soon god willing.

It was funny reading today’s news , I read it online as the Tv channels which are supposedly very good are utter nonsense and hardly give any news. They are more into how to throw those big words at people about some incident and make it a habit to repeat it every 20-30 minutes .. the whole day long. I could not believe what I saw the other day , during the india-Sri Lanka match which ended in a tie, during one of the overs only 5 balls were bowled. Since the match ended in a tie that one extra ball “COULD” have been a match winner, but its a game things happen. Had India Lost , Or won no one would have mentioned this over, but because it was a tie.. This Tv channel hurriedly put up a chat show with three or Two other supposedly cricket knowing people and Went on and on and on and onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn (I guess you get the hint) about how the umpires made a blunder and How india “COULD” have won how india was ROBBED of the win ..
I watched the show as I had nothing to do and it was more of a comedy show, I have never laughed in my life as much as I laughed at that show, what a waste of time .. there were three people talking of one incident. Each one said the SAME thing on every question.. More hilarious was each of them says “OH nothing can be done about it “, the match is over. I mean if the match is over then why spend so much time on this particular incident… wasting so much time .. when there are aplenty more reasons where debates , discussions need to be held.
Is their such a need to create such a hoo la-la, a Big issue on such incidents. I mean let’s think of it logically (yupp I can surprise you all sometimes, talking of logic, yes you read it right.. Read on)
Had the one ball been bowled
The batsmen could have taken a Run- hit a four – hit a six and if the match went on as it did India could have won , But on the other hand the Bowler Might have taken a wicket too, the batsman might have tried to hit a six and holed out to the fielder in the deep losing his wicket, It could have been such a good ball that the batsman had to defend it rather than take any run.. SO MANY permutation and combinations , the result could have been entirely different had any of this happened. Yet NONE of the esteemed people sitting on the discussion table said anything about it .. OH NO India was robbed of the victory.. Thank god they did not come out with saying the umpires are BIASED against the Indian team. or maybe they did I was so busy laughing my head off I did not listen to that part.
This is the reason why I get so angry sometimes reading other news somewhere which never ever gets mentioned, No one in the nation gives a DAMN about it, Let me give you an example..
I have been following news about a DGP (director general Police) Jails, Mr. Shashi Kant, he is up in arms against the Drug mafia operating in Punjab jails, the drug mafia he says is backed by some powerful people, The DGP is wanting to eradicate this menace, I don’t know what agenda he has in doing that But lets consider it he is doing so for the betterment of the society and sincerely eradicating the drug mafia, He has been very outspoken in media talking about the connections between the drug lords and political leaders, which has ruffled quiet a lot of feathers in the political circle.. So what does the Government do I will quote THE TRIBUNE’s News
He has been criticised by the state government for airing his views openly, Instead of helping him the Govt is trying to stop him..
On the other hand there is another Top Cop, The SSP of Chandigarh who had a community interaction in Punjab University Chandigarh to speak about efficient policing, In his interaction he had NO EXAMPLE to give about it in Real life so what he did was take examples of Films the REEL life how Amitabh bachan does policing in “ZANJEER” or how Ajay Devgan works inside system to bring about reformation in the movie “SINGHAM”.. It is very funny that the SSP could not find any such heroism or bravado or working with full commitment while on duty for what they are being paid for in the Police force..
Such is the sad sad condition of our police functioning , One side there is a person who MAY GENUINELY be trying to help get rid of a menace he is being stopped on the other examples are being given to work as our REEL hero’s work how is it possible to do that, I wonder.
One of the worst news That I read was two criminals who had kidnapped a child and held the 2-year-old for a ransom, ( luckily the police recovered the child within 6-7 hours which is commendable of them and WELL DONE TO THE TEAM of the officers who made it possible, Yes our police too can work miracles but only when they want to ...) Anyway that is not the reason I am talking about the Court has given a sentence of LIFE TERM to these kidnappers .. THIS I want to challenge because if you remember my post on justice for a 10 month old, the judge was reducing the sentence , from 10 to 7 or something like that years .
CAN YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE how can this be justified in our own justice or law that a kidnapper gets a life term while a rapist who has done this deed on a 10 month old is allowed to have a reduced term..
So here I think the law is telling us NO dont kidnap kids but its ok to rape them and leave then scared for Life. Please all who are reading me tell me AM I an IDIOT to think that way or that I am complete mad.
ANYWAY on some good news India has qualified for the olympics in hockey, defeating france 8-1 , CHAKK TE FATTE .. and this my dear people could be something te celebrate after all HOCKEY is our national game ( i hope there are people out there who know that hockey is our national game) .. only if we spend half that much money as spent on cricket, It is indeed such stupidity and hypocracy of our people who don’t even know what the national game is since cricket has taken over us all . I am happy today to have read this news, And I will be here watching the matches played God willing India will put a better show then the multi million dollars rich Cricketers who are untouchables .. .. Well done to the indian team..
