Funny thoughts-December

I have not posted for a long time , in-spite of it all being a holiday season I been so busy with everything, yet it feels i have not accomplished anything, I must have driven more than a few thousand miles and flown at least half a dozen times for something or the other, I bet the lady at the check-in desk for emirates probably recognize my face by now at the airport.

Thankfully I have a day off today so I thought I will post, something that I have observed even though I worked at the airport for a decade it did not hit me till now I guess I am a slow observer or learner I should say ..

You know we have a duty-free at almost all the airports which although sounds like a bargain but I have my doubts I am sure the duty-free is not that cheap as we think it is, anyway it’s not the prices I want to discuss.. Right so you buy some items and go to the check out, where the smiling lady at the till asks for your BOARDING PASS…

I mean you have to prove that you are flying on an aeroplane even though you are in the airport..

NOW why would they ask for the boarding pass are they trying to figure out that we should not be in that place, or have we just barged in to the duty-free shop.

Are they suggesting that I got up early morning at a ridiculous time to make it to the airport , parked my car at the car park at ridiculous high price , stood in the queue to check in my luggage , then walked up the escalators through the airport security (forgot the shuttle bus ride from the car park to the airport) πŸ™‚ .. I mean the airport is supposedly the most security conscious place, after getting myself imaged in the new human camera, and then getting patted up and down by the security staff just because my bracelet set the metal detector off.. Β do the duty-free people still think that I just might have got into the shop without the BOARDING PASS.

December is here, Festive season’s , the year coming to an end, I love December though because of all the festivities, and also one of my favorite person has their birthday this month (although I am not their favorite πŸ™‚ ) .. Β So I would like to wish them a very happy birthday a couple of days late I know.. but then that’s me a Late Latif always πŸ™‚

So whats the plan for Christmas everyone two weeks left .. Have a great month everyone …

I always wonder how ‘late latif’ saying came into being. When I was in school, we had school houses and I was in blue house which was Latif house and being in Air Force School means that our school houses were named after the various air Commodores which made me think that maybe Latif always came late to air force meeting and thus, dubbed with nickname late latif πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Air travel is the most boring one. Seriously! I love travelling by road.
Take a vacation Bikram….even if a short one. You need a break. Working non-stop like this isn’t good. By the way, so sweet of you to remember someone who doesn’t regard you as their favourite one. ☺

I think every airport has its own rules and regulations. But Delhi duty-free shops ask for Passport.

Happy Holidays to you, Bikram. Btw, never park at the airport. It is really expensive. We use private parking. They take you to and fro from the airport.

As far as I know… they need a boarding pass to prove that it was INTERNATIONAL travel. And not domestic. Which is a fair I guess.

Take a break now πŸ™‚ It is a good time!

  11. December is a nice time in Mumbai with a slight nip in, but it is a time of flux with the year slipping by and the new year knocking at the door. In this season, I find it particularly hard to focus the mind. Happy holidays to you Bikram. πŸ™‚

Enjoy the Christmas days, Bikram. Try to relax and not stress too much. As for me, I work in a hospital, and I don’t have holidays. So, I am going to be working for the next two weeks and endless weeks after that too!

  16. ha ha…. that is so funny. I have had similar thoughts when I have been at the airport. For instance, while boarding a plane, there are 4 different people (from the boarding gate to the airplane door) who check your passport and boarding pass. I wonder why just one is not enough. I mean you could not have outsmarted security and so many other people on the way to manage to get till the airplane door without a ticket or a passport, right.

Anyways… happy holidays to you too. Have a merry Christmas and wonderful new year.

  20. I love airports – the people, the smells, the clothes, the shops, the washrooms and everything. I look forward to taking a flight. Though I don’t buy much, I love to browse through and observe many many things.

I love December as well. My family is coming over to Goa and I’m awaiting their arrival. Hope you have a lovely remainder of the month.

Thanks for the kind words on my blog which is growing obsolete as time passes.

    Cheers!
