Mahatma Gandhi as we know was the best politician the world has ever had. Politics is the art of gaining what you want even when you are weak… But why call Gandhi as Mahatma I have not understood that, Because as far as I know or as history tells us neither his actions nor his character were impeccable. He did have a few skeletons in his cupboard too.

With each change in political scenario in the country the facts and slogans and Tamasha changes.. according to the will and wimp of the political parties ideology.

Some feel offended that Gandhi is blamed,  but Gandhi was not perfect, so what’s the harm in blaming Gandhi, he did make quiet a few mistakes, who doesn’t, So what’s wrong in blaming him, after all don’t we hear it that we Should be responsible for our actions.

Gandhi no doubt was a very good manipulator, a Politician par excellence.. I don’t deny that, But what I am against is giving a man so much importance when there are others who are equally deserving or MORE. So if they don’t get what they deserve then why is one man singled out for all this respect, If he said that youth like Sardar Bhagat Singh are damaging the image of the nation, then So did he.

March 23 came and went it was the 75th anniversary of the martyrdom of Shaheed Sardar Bhagat Singh. The reason I am mentioning him is that in those turbulent times.. It was HE who was as popular as Gandhi, I will say More than him, that is why the conspiracy theory that Gandhi did not do his best to save him from the gallows.

I myself feel that it has become a mockery with the way history has been changed, manipulated on what Bhagat Singh and many others did , How it helped the bringing of Independence. It is not correct to compare the paths of Bhagat Singh and Gandhi, even when the goal was same..

It is so very wrong to think that it was the Non-cooperative movement which made British  Leave India, the movement started by Gandhi. I think it was both the Revolt to take arms, the anger plus the movements of Gandhi that made the British understand that the time was ripe to vacate the Asian subcontinent for good

The likes of Sardar Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Rajguru ,SukhDev,Udham Singh and Plenty more whom history has forgotten, who embraced death in their early age, they were all Jewels of OUR country conveniently forgotten by History Manipulators.

Because of political changes history has been so badly manipulated that we still think it was only the indiscipline or non-cooperation movements started by Gandhi that helped in Independence, this is religiously followed in all walks of life in India even to this day.

WE forget that Today the same Congress , and the KHADI wearing people , The so-called people who are following Gandhi principles are the worst enemies we have… and These are the very people the young fire brand freedom fighters cautioned us about..

But we the people have not learned anything, I doubt if we will Learn too. I am sure EVEN GANDHI himself will be ashamed of the ways our politicians are behaving today, but then Gandhi himself was a Politician par excellence.
PS:- The spelling in the title are wrong I know .. WHAT Independence!!!!

History is a big scam or seems to be one.. Partly because public memory is very short… They (we) forget very soon. It is a good practice that some level of history learning is part of school where students are taught the basics to turn into proud Indians.. But then the politics of it all as to whom to write about, in what details, whom to ignore discard, look down upon!! The debate still continues even this year we ask who defines a nationalist or who is to say who is and who is not! And what are the grades… I think if we live upto 90 years.. We will know the different variations that has come up, pracyltised discarded and changed over the years!

Here is my personal opinion. British have been looting India and taking to their homeland for so many years. By 1947, there was nothing more to loot or take to England. Keeping India under their wing had become a financial burden for England (after World War 2). Therefore, they “graciously” granted independence to India.

India should have kicked the British out just like the Americans did.

That is true what you say and I also totally 100% believe that independence was actually GIVEN to us, we were unable to TAKE it from the british, It was more beneficial for them to leave than stay.

It also shows that we as a nation were never together , even now we are not. We should have Kicked them out after all we are many many MANYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more .. they were just a handful BUt our own leaders did not want to .. I personally also feel that if GANDHI was not there , or he had stayed in south africa and NEVER come to india we would have been better off and maybe Just maybe TAKEN independence.

Human beings are experts at the art of twisting something started with a good purpose and utilizing it to their personal gains… Democracy and satyagraha are no exceptions….govt of the people and by the people depends on the people contesting and people voting…. There is chaos for sure but maybe somewhere down the line greener days are waiting??

  8. Agree with your view point. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a human but not flawless as we paint him. There were the good but also grey parts in him. There are other freedom fighters who contributed to India as a free nation:)

indeed.. everyone deserves the same respect.. if he is a mahatama then so is each of the freedom fighters .. there are people who did so much more..

what about the people who sat in dharnas with him, walked with him.. Gandhi may have rested sometimes and had other help from all others but what about those poor who walked day in and day out with him always..

Gandhi had more that a few skeletons in his closet. He was a true politician. A manipulator to his core. A few years back, India Today ran an issue on him about a few rumors about him that had surfaced with publication of a few of his personal letters. the rumors proved to be true and I ended up feeling disgusted about how we can call such a person as the father of our nation.

Despite the problems that our country has faced since it’s independence, we have always been a country of warriors and martyrs and rather than giving the honors to the martyrs who had actually died for the country, they had been given to the politicians like Gandhi and more.

Generations have be so brain-washed with the love for Gandhi that they won’t listen to the truth no matter how much you try. Hence, the deserving martyrs like Bhagat Sigh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Durga Bhabhi and more.

True so very true and this is what disgusts me the most who made him father of nation and the same for Nehru the chacha of nation and he was another person who had so many skeletons, But alas congress has been in power for so long that they have practically done what was beneficial to their political party.

and you are right despite all the issues we have stood fast thanks to everyone and the brave souls…

Grateful to all those whose efforts & sacrifices have gifted us independence.
Hope we all do good for our country.
Politicians are to be blamed for the current state, but then we are responsible for the politicians we elect. Hope good people contest elections & we all vote to bring them to power…

Its the likes of Bhagat Singh who could have gotten us independence sooner with their armed revolt. Jai Hind.
