Butterfly Goodeid

Butterfly Goodeid :- This fish was supposedly declared “EXTINCT” until 1996.

They were discovered in a PUBLIC Swimming pool at TEUCHITLAN in Western Mexico.  The pool was a fresh water pool fed by a spring which runs in the Teuchitlan River.

Its habitat is that Single fresh water pool and hopefully they would be bred and re-introduced to natural habitat.

My entry for the ABC Wednesday. The Word for this Wednesday is “I”

  8. Wonder why it’s known as butterfly? Also, how can they declare something as extinct when no one can go across the length and breadth of the world to verify??

  13. Still its believed that hundreds or thousands of species are either undiscovered or are called extinct because due to human intervention they have changed their habitat and we have no idea where they are now 🙂

PS: hmmmfff…its been a long time that I’ve been away from blogger’s world…hope this time I’ll be regular…How are you Sir?

’tis always nice to hear that something pronounced extinct is still around. (Although I’m not sure I’d like to live where the dinosaurs do. :D)
