I was talking to a friend of mine who told me that for some time now I have not been putting the musical Mondays post .. I thought, I will start all over again the series, Will put songs that are my favourites and those that I listen every now and then ..
The first one that came to my mind was this song , It reminds me because I was in Bsc first year when I had heard this one at a friend’s place in panchkula india , on one of those BIG cassette players , this was the only song on the cassette, I immediately made a copy of it.. Those friends are not there with me now, we have all moved and parted ways to pursue our careers , The guy I took the song from is in australia somewhere ..
It seems to be a sad song but an emotional one too.. Have a listen and tell me does it not remind you of your childhood days , those friends that have parted .. wish I can rewind it back to meet them all once again .. wherever you are all of you God bless you all … Take care of yourself people ..
To all the Friends that we have parted with …
I have made some beautiful friends, I love you and think of all of you everyday .. This is also for all my blogger friends who have become part of family now.. Thanks for being there
Goodbye to you my trusted friend
we’ve known each other since we were nine or ten
together we’ve climbed hills and trees
learned of love and ABCs skinned our hearts and skinned our knees
Goodbye my friend it’s hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky now that the spring is in the air
pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and I’ll be there
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun but the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time
Goodbye Papa, please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
You tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
Wonder how I got along.
Goodbye Papa, it’s hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Little children everywhere
When you see them I’ll be there.
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons have all gone.
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons have all gone.
Goodbye Michelle, my little one
You gave me love and helped me find the sun
And every time when I was down
You would always come around And get my feet back on the ground.
Goodbye Michelle, it’s hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
I wish that we could both be there.
We had joy, we had fun We had seasons in the sun But the stars we could reach Were just starfish on the beach.
We had joy, we had fun We had seasons in the sun But the stars we could reach Were just starfish on the beach.
We had joy, we had fun We had seasons in the sun But the wine and the song Like the seasons have all gone
All our lives we had fun We had seasons in the sun But the hills that we climbed Were just seasons out of time
Seasons in the Sun” was a worldwide hit song for Terry Jacks in 1974.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK AHEAD FOLKS … enjoy…

Well I am in touch with a lot of them, we have reunions on and off. And the remaining I keep knowing through facebook or friends of friends. So I don’t really have to wonder. 🙂
It’s when you grow out of touch with a person and suddenly a song reminds you of him/her that the memories come flooding back…

Is this week about ‘good old days’? As I’ve had two old friends get in contact with me in the last few days – it brought back old memories of college and University when I chatted to them. I find here Bikram you are on the same wavelength and writing about similar things – how strange.

This song is very important to me too, mainly cos it was pretty much my initiation to english music! I accept, the boy bands are nowhere close to mainstream music which people love, but honestly, the lyrics of the song were the first few I ever memorised, or understood, and loved!
Thanks for reminding, been a long time 🙂

Hi Bikram, this is one of my favourite songs. A bit wistful, but the words are touching and they kind of ring true. To answer ur question, I only remember that I did not have friends back then. So, it was like, just me and my world. I used to come back home in the afternoon from college and listen to these songs on TV. This was one of them.
Your friends are a lucky lot, for they have a nice friend in you.

Lovely ! Thanks for reminding me of the wonderful days listening to those songs on air or on the stereo music system we owned. Maa would be so cross sometimes and ask us to reduce the volume. Wonder how lovely it would be if I had the head phones or an ipod or what not my children are used to these days listening to all the songs they love, yet not disturbing us.

🙂 I know , I had that big hi fi with speakers and all , and i was allowed half an hour when i was getting ready for my college in my room , to put the volume high.. and still dad would shout at me 🙂
no head phones and ipod dont give that much fun as that little round knob turning the volume UP :)…
