Hi Everyone One of my very good blogger friends Rachna has started this exciting new App launched by her company. It is Rolodexo.com. Simply put, it allows a person to create a virtual business card that looks exactly like the physical business card free of cost.

It is a good way  for all from a self-employed person to a  housewife and student to have a unique identity of their own that they can share through emails, embed on their blogs or websites, use on their profiles on freelance sites, attach as their signatures in Gmail or Outlook .  If you visit the Website , you can find ways to attach it as a signature.

It is quite innovative to have one of these to share  No paper, no physical card.

Some of the links to help you get started are

  2. I think open standards are very important. That means, in future if these cards can inter-operate among similar cards (software) with similar vendors, it will be very good.

An interesting concept but there will have to be some
good securities for it I think, especially with adding so
much personal details, the trouble is anyone could be
taking a copy and perhaps using for their own agenda

But it is still an interesting notion nonetheless…

Have a great weekend Bikram 🙂

@Androgoth You bring forth a great point. But, you must know that no one can access your card except those whom you invite or add to your contact list. Your card is not searchable on google etc. And rolodexo.com is only open to those who subscribe so there is no way that anyone can just go through the site and see your card. Also, there is a feature that allows you to keep your card private so even for those who search on rolodexo.com using your name or email will be able to see just your name or email and will have to get added by you to see all your details.

If you upload it on your website or blog, your card is visible to all. In this case, you need to be more careful. You can always put in a dummy address or fake phone number like in my card above and can just reveal whatever details you are comfortable with and those you feel are harmless to reveal. You can keep changing your card details and look as and when you require and as many times as you need. And soon we will have an Android App so that you no longer need to carry your physical card. Just transmit your card to another person using this App.

We are going to provide a lot of features going forward, and we have taken extra precautions with security. We never sell anyone’s personal information. It is there in our privacy policy. Please feel free to write to me for any concerns or feedback. My email is rachna.parmar@tranquilsoft.in. Thanks.

  20. Sounds interesting, I have come across similar concepts before, but mainly focused around mobile phones and mobile technology. The problem I face, as a business guy myself, is that business cards in physical form can be collected and put together – usually in a business card holder – one which you can keep with you and call upon those who you need something doing. With digital business cards, one cannot store them in any location. Unless this app is different at which point I will be interested.

Actually, a business card rolodex cannot be updated. If a contact changes information, it will not reflect there. Our App offers a place where you can store all contacts and even update them. This is the next step of our App. We will be launching that in a couple of months. So, be sure to check back then.

Sounds very interesting, I remember when I was in college, more than a decade back, we used to get these friend into cards printed, but we could never share them with everyone, they used to be pretty steeply priced. But this is a great idea, especially being able to use it on the blogs and as signatures for our mails.
    Will surely try it out.

Bikram, it’s a good post as it talks about something useful for your readers. So, thank you for that. I have checked out the service. I like that it’s easy to login with facebook or google account without having to register on yet another website.

As for the business card, it’s a good concept certainly, but the execution seems to be in its infancy yet. The customisation options available are very limited so far though I am hoping this will change as the service grows. I found it very easy to create a card, but ultimately didn’t finish it because I wanted to recreate my physical card on it and that didn’t work. Specifically I found the service lacking in good text formatting options and capabilities to handle custom logo graphic.

My way of handling this need is to use one of the free business-card creation services, create a fully customised card and then take a screenshot to use it for my online needs.

Me being me I do want to comment on the site’s flag line “Never lose your contacts again”. I use an Android phone and a business card scanner app, I NEVER lose my contacts. 🙂 As for the updates information, there’s always linkedin.

Good luck to Rolodexo and thank you for a useful post.

      Hi Sunny,

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we just launched the App just a month back so yes we need to build in a few more options about text customization, logos and even templates. We do have that on the cards, but it will take a little time.

As far as “Never losing your contacts”, we are actually building a wider App that will allow the contact information to be fed in from all social media Apps and also from mobile phones. We will also be offering syncing facility to ensure that all the contact information stays updated. I am not sure how a business card scanner will keep your contact information updated :). Also, a few clients of mine were cribbing about business card scanners. And, can you arrange your contacts alphabetically when you use a scanner? You will require another App for that. And LinkedIn actually reveals very few contact details. Even your official email id and phone numbers are not revealed just like a business card does.

So, thank you for the inputs, and maybe you can check back after a couple of months and see that all the features you mentioned are already there. Currently, I want those people who have no access to business cards to have access to one and use that.

      Regards,
      Rachna
