Harjiwanpal S Gill Bikram warm wishes after ages.Hope you & your family are good.Highly commendable to read about Shaheed-E-Azam.I am emotionally attached to him , my mother being his neice.BEST tribute to him is your write-up about him.Keep it up & do get in touch

Today 27th September is the Birth anniversary of Sardar Bhagat singh, One of the most known person in Indian history, Who was more influential then Mahatama Gandhi, inspite of being so young.

The congress may not agree to it , But it was Gandhi’s Politics that made us loose a firebrand leader, I wonder sometimes how it would have been if Sardar Bhagat singh and his friends had survived, for as long as Gandhi did, makes you wonder what would have been the outcome if history had been otherwise..

Anyway Today is Sardar Bhagat singh’s birthday and I dont want to discuss the dirty politics of the congress then.Sardar Bhagat singh gave a new direction to revolutionary movement in India, formed ‘Naujavan Bharat Sabha’ to spread the message of revolution in Punjab, formed ‘Hindustan Samajvadi Prajatantra Sangha’ along with Shaheed Chandrasekhar Azad to establish a republic in India,

(the following had been published by me earlier too.. My thoughts) Been wondering sometimes, what it would be, to actually be alive during the times of Sardar Bhagat Singh. It’s one thing to watch the movies describing him, his ideas what he did, how it all happened, but to be actually there is different

I sometimes think if I was at that age, am I cut up for such sacrifices, would I be able to do what the heroes at that time did. Would I have had the courage to defy the Government at that time? Or would I be a coward running scared? or worst be an obedient citizen going about my daily chores of life without batting a eyelid, cause that’s what most were doing otherwise how could a handful of british rule so many.

The last few words spoken by him “Dil se niklegi, na mar kar bhi, watan ki ulfat, meri mitti se bhi khushboo-e-watan aayegi” (Even after my death my love for my motherland will not diminish from my heart. Even my ashes will smell of your (motherland’s) greatness and love). AM I LIKE THAT Are YOU  LIKE THAT ?

Can I or Would I be able to give up my life smiling. Does it not make you think sometime COULD YOU DO what they did.  OR Would I be one of those traitors who got greats like Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad killed, Shaheed Bhagat Singh hanged… Would I be that SLY bastard who would betray my friends at the first hurdle of trouble, would I spill the beans at the mere thought of pain?

Would I or Could I have been as brave as the martyrs, Could I have taken all that beating, torture they went through in there tender age, When I was 24 I was busy trying to make a career.

It is one thing saying it, Oh yes I could have or I would have… But think deep inside, be truthful to yourself COULD YOU, COULD I… just a thought. Not many these days think the way a 24 year old thought at that time, I know situations were different but there is one thing common, INDIA… our country it is still under oppression, still under rule the only difference is colour of skin, it was WHITE then now its BROWN. Mentality is still same LOOT The country, fill in own coffers…

But do we see Bhagat Singh NOW? NO. All the martyrs gave their life for us but we have betrayed them, we have betrayed our own brothers and sisters.

Hence the wondering that could I do what they did, because if the answer is YES and hundreds, thousands said it was YES, then we should not be where we are in the current ERA. I just wish to god and prey that when I die, I die a good death a bit worthwhile, or give me strength that I am able to do something, anything worthwhile for the country where I was born where my forefathers lived.

I am not sure if I could say what Bhagat Singh wrote “I have been arrested while waging a war. For me there can be no gallows. Put me into the mouth of a cannon and blow me off.” These heroes had conquered the fear of death.

CAN I ?
COULD I ?
WOULD I ?
Remains a QUESTION…

“Shaheedo ki cheetaon par har baras lagen ge mele, watan par marne walon ka bus yahi nishan hoga’’.

Sardar Bhagat Singh was one of the most prominent faces of Indian freedom struggle. He was a revolutionary ahead of his times. By Revolution he meant that present order of things, which was based on manifest injustice must change (its stil lthe same now tooo),   He realised that the overthrow of British rule should be accompanied by the socialist reconstruction of Indian society and for this political power must be seized by the workers. And he was so right, Look at what stage we are in Under the so called rulers, Today We need Bhagat singh to be born again.

We indians have a tendency- we want nehru paida ho apne ghar aur Bhagat singh paida ho padosi de ghar. Effort woh karen aur maje len hum..

Bhagat Singh gave a new direction to the revolutionary movement in India. He differed from his predecessors ,He was the one who had a concept of post-independence society. The immediate goal of all other parties , leaders was  destruction of the British Empire but they had no inclination to work out a political alternative. Bhagat Singh, because of his thoughts, knowledge, interest in studying gave the revolutionary movement a goal beyond the elimination of the British.

This Vision and determination of purpose distinguished Sardar Bhagat Singh from other leaders of the National Movement. He emerged as the only alternative to Gandhi and the Indian National Congress, especially for the youth, when the rest of the parties were busy squabbling over power, who would have power, who would rule, The Young Firebrand Gave His life for the country, slapping at the faces of the leaders Then.. Who are still SQUABBLING NOW.

As we have seen throughout our history then and NOW our leaders have never been loyal to there party let alone the Country, The so called leaders then let there own selfish aims come in way of helping a Revolutionary who WOULD  yes WOULD have I am not saying could .. WHO WOULD have changed the whole scenario had he lived.. He told us how we will be under the rule of our own when the british left, thats what has happened precisely..

We have to change this Attitude, We need bhagat singh born in each house, So we can get rid of our country from the leeches the so called leaders, Need I say more …

Today On his birthday please all those reading this article take a moment and THINK…

Soora so pahchaniye, je lade deen ke het,
Purja-purja kat mare, kabhu na chhade khet.

(Only he is brave who fights for the cause of the poor. He may be cut into pieces and may be killed, but he should not leave the field.)

Inquilab Zindabad…

Look at the above pic.. He was right Money is the HONEY of mankind especially We indians…
“Lover , lunatic and poets are made of the same stuff ”

“My strength is the strength of oppressed , my courage is the courage of desperation” Indeed when will we get so desperate and have the courage to throw the rulers Out WHEN….

Martyrdom of Sardar Bhagat Singh

I will be posting a few more articles after this as my little tribute to the Martyr who gave what not many can do for the country without any award, only wanting his fellow citizens to live in peace.. BUT shame on us all, we dont deserve to be called Indians and Shame on us to say we are patriotics and love our country.. We should all Lower our heads in SHAME….

Beware this is gonna be a RANT.. and it is a Repost .. Got the same feeling again today so putting it again ..  I am not in a good mood today, been to a wedding too .. PEOPLEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I am sick and tired of this phrase. Especially when a fellow Indian asks me that question… Don’t get me wrong… its fair enough if a white guy asks me that… He does not know because for him all brown skin people are the same…

But when an Indian asks me I usually reply from where you are….

This is a common thing you enter a pub, if you meet someone for first time they will be like

“Kehda pind hai apna” (what village are you from)…

Reply- “Muktsar”…

Malwai hain ke Majhe da … (these are areas in Punjab; it is divided into areas… MALWA – DOAB- MAJHA etc)

I must say when I was in India I did not have a clue about this, but here in UK it is like that, further divisions nation-state-area… I bet it’s gonna go to neighbourhood too 🙂

So I have no idea what Muktsar falls under still… Depending on the area you are from, the circle you sit changes a lot especially in pubs or wedding halls.

I would like to reply to these people when they ask me Where am I from That

” Sat samundaron paar mera sohna watan

jida mishri warga paani
jithe zare zare which pyar

Yaar main uthon da
Jithe Jamiya Bhagat Singh Sardar

(“Seven seas apart My beautiful cuntry ..    Where the water is like syrup …  where there is love every where ..

OH my friend I am from there .. Where was born Sardar BHAGAT SINGH “)

Does it matter where I from am?

Will it make me a better or bad person depending on the area?

OH YES… dont smile or think I have gone mad writing this… It does matter because it really is a big issue here in UK, among the Asian (Indian) community… I was surprised when “M” (short for Muthu) a friend from Tamil-Nadu found out that I was actually from Punjab, don’t know what he was thinking I was from originally, I guess a lot of people in south have names like Bikramjit SINGH 🙂 (Ok that was sarcy)… but If I am from Punjab does it make me a bad person or what… He stopped coming to my house, stopped taking my calls.

Till I was “BIK” it was fine, later I got to know from his girl friend who worked in the same office as me, that his parents were Brahmins, since I ate meat they had aked there son to stay away from me.. These are the same parents who stayed in my house for two months when there Son could not afford to buy a house and was living on rent, Why was he stupid enough to get his parents over dont ask me ?… I mean that’s hypocracy.. He went to pubs with me to drink… Here I must say he was/is ok with white people, I see him now and then in pubs with that group and its ok cause gora’s eat beef and Beef is not meat and not at all against his religion 🙂.

I am really surprised in today’s day and age this sort of racism still exists, wonder how it is in India.

The problem with meat, I must laugh, here at McDonalds we get cheese burgers, If you ask for a cheese burger, it has a slice of MEAT in it, that meat is BEEF… So Mr. “M” has gone with me a hundred times for a quick bite, ordering cheese burgers… where did the religion go then eating all that Beef.

I really find it funny. If it is to be thought in region way then Punjab has always been higher in the chain, I belong to a JATT/Sikh which if I am not wrong was martial race equivalent to Kshatriya’s So I am higher in the chain in that sense too. So why would it be a problem to be friendly with me. This is not just my story I am sure it happens to a lot others too or has happened, I was chatting with another mate who is in chicago , he too had the same views, he was a bit over dramatic and said dont be friends with anyone other then same caste, same religion, same region.. But thank god I am not like that.. I feel all Humans are equal END OF.

I mean Mr. “M” when you bought your first car and borrowed money from me to pay for it, should you not have thought about asking which area I belong to at that time, the money was tainted.

It’s really sad that living in a foreign place we are so divided, we don’t find this in Pakistani community they stick together whatever region they are from, but Us Indians it is Punjab-south-north-east… Sikh-Hindu-Muslim Jatt-Majhbi-Brahmin
poor-rich etc etc etc…

Ah well I guess I have had my Rant for the day.. so I should shutup maybe there is something wrong with me , I am from Punjab not from India..

BlogJunta - An ode to the Blogosphere

Was Reading this article by Ajay (stole his articles title too Sorrreeeeeeeeeeee)  on the campus Jottings .. A few points reminded me of fun things when I was in college  few of the points that come to mind

1. End of year Standing in Que to get the Roll numbers only to find out that I cant get the Roll number as I have Lectures shortage in almost every subject.

2. Going to Punjabi Mam, she was so beautiful who smiles when I ask “Mam Lecture poore kar deo Please” (Mam please complete my lectures).. awww blesss she did ..

Then walking to English Teacher Mr. N who I find out today of all the days When I go home in evening sitting with my DAD.. They are class mate’s…  “OH £$%£”..  what do I do now, Dad will know and it will be chaos.. Phewwww he smiled, did not say a word.

Next day I went to him, I only had to say “Sir”..

“Tun dasiya nahin tun Mann da munda hain”.. (you did not say you are Mann’s son) .. He completed all my lectures, you see  I was good in english and represented college few times ..

right Two gone .. Three more subjects

3. Going to another professor who for some reason was having a bad day, “Jo karna hai kar le ” .. (do what you want to ) .. Not Poora Karoing (could not find the english word he he he 🙂 ) .. your lectures .. and I have 75 short ..

Ravjote Walks in the Lecture Room, “Oh sir , Kar deo poore .. Tuhada ki jaanda ” .. (sir please do, whats it to you) ..

He refuses, what was worst was 1st year students are having their practicals and it had to be all GIRLS.. The silly girls burst out laughing on hearing Ravi..  Which makes the professor more mad..

“Iske lecture poore nahin karne “.. Not completing this guys lectures .. he says pointing to me …

Ah well I tried the good way ..

Finding a way how to get roll numbers .. Get hold of a guy who is responsible of posting Roll numbers to college from the university 🙂 .   don’t need to go to the other Two teachers  🙂  sorteddddddd

4. End of year Viva Exam , my Physics lecturer asking Am I sure I am a student of that class , He has not seen me the whole year in any of the lectures.

5. Sector 11 Inspector who is known for talking with his DANDA, He would without any reason beat up students or who he did not like.. He is walking through the college Suddenly a Voice echoes

“Karnail Singh Kuteeee” …  (karnail singh you dog)….

Pin drop silence .. sudden hustle bustle .. corridor empty …

finding myself in LT1 (lecture theatre).. with  O (my friend)

Rather panting and exciting he says .. “I said it .. bloody hell .. first reaction is to slap him .. then having a hearty laugh.

More to come .. Meanwhile Why dont you share something from your college days .. I bet it will bring nostalgic moments …  Lets hear them ..

Dhoni’s men could have adandoned the England Tour

UPDATE – AFTERTHOUGHT :- This post is not on cricket, or on the point that should india have stayed in UK or abandones the tour,  I am talking of the point where this person is Puting two incidents at equal PAR.. If we think that english would then that makes us ONE step better then them that we stayed and played circket for which we are paid. But saying the Mumbai attacks equivalent to the Looting by Teenage/young people .. without GUNS Heavy Equipment, Without Shooting people on the STreet, Without careful planning .. Thats the point I am trying ot make .. How can the Same two incidents be same … In one people Innocent people were Killed , they lost their life to careful Planning .. In the second it was nothing but LOOTING.

I was reading the above article on the online version of this Supposedly best Indian news papers .. It made me really mad , On the thought of such People who are supposedly better writers .. And have written so many articles. How can they write such silly stuff, The gist of the article was that the indian team could/should have abondoned the entire England tour at the sign of Riots and taken the easy way out to save themselves the humility of being beaten fair and square by a better team.

This writers tries to  put the two episodes that of  26th November 2008 Mumbai attacks  and of August 2011 UK Riots as same, I mean IS HE THAT ______.. he is supposed to be a journalist and times of India is again supposedly a good newspaper , why it allows such article to be published I can’t put my mind to it. The Rationale to compare the two episodes is ridiculous.

Well let me take the opportunity here to Tell this person Mr. Saibal Bose the two incidents that happened were not same .. People died in the Mumbai attacks , it was an attack on the nation by some people, It was a fully planned and well organised Attack. What happened in UK was some youth getting together and going on a Looting spree, YES that’s what it was LOOTING.. not even rioting which the media in India  created such a big issue of. The terrorists were looking to kill as many possible, put fear in the people,  The looters so-called rioters had no such intention Unless they found DHONI or TEAM walking on streets with Plasma Tele’s .

What happened in Mumbai was one of the worst terrorist attacks on our nation and the Security for the English team which was touring India in those days had a perfect good reason to think of the safety of its men, as they could have easily been targeted , which sadly we all saw .. when the Sri Lankan team came under attack  in Pakistan the following year.

The Looting that happened here in UK, was not targeted at people, It was some groups in need of the latest Armani suits, Or Iphones or Televisions that too FREE.. That is all it was about, No one was carrying heavy weaponry , targeting People killing .. Why would the indian team feel scared of this .. I don’t know.

Is the intelligence so ridiculous, are the security personnel that follow the indian team, or advice them on security so silly they literally thought that Indian team was being targeted by teenage groups of people running with free goodies off an electrical shops..

I found it really hilarious that this person is suggesting that the indian team should have abandoned , what came MORE of a surprise was the long list of comments people saying yes it would have been good..

I enjoyed reading the article where the Writer is thinking of what will happen if indian team had come back, the english press would have called them Chicken.. I mean how can someone think of what has not happened.

This is what made me laugh out loud , This is what the writer writes “If the Football association can call off a friendly involving the English team, there surely was a case for the Indians to seriously contemplate returning home. Particularly with the team not doing too well. It recalls, the English team wasn’t doing too well either when they returned home in 2008. Going by India’s batting on the first day of the Edgbaston Test, perhaps India would have done well to come back. They had a good enough excuse to return, regroup and go back at a later date, better prepared.”

For those who are Reading Let me make it very clear the FOOTBALL match was cancelled because of the large number of police officers needed to police the event, not because the players were thought to be at risk, The police had to control the Looting .. use officers in that ..

Can you believe it , A writer writing this in a major paper..

Really I would like all of you to go and read this article, and why Times of india found this nonsense even worthy, Comparing the two incidents, I wish he had done some research on this , To me its a disgrace of how small the thinking is , even to compare.

What risk is a youth stealing some Nike shoes to a Team of players who have security around them.. The english team came back to India once all was settled and security was good, I hope people don’t forget that , It is also a fact that BCCI wanted the matches to take place because of the money that they would have lost.

I really would like people to know what they are saying and stop writing such silly notes just to gain some publicity

Some of the comments I will just copy paste ..

1. Suresh says:

We do not care what English people think about us or win their hearts. We, Indians, play fairly and win the game against England. You are right on the money. We, Indian people, needed to stand up for our team rather than just criticizing our team and applaud White men. we should be wise to leave the tour in the middle when the opportunity happened as England team did to us. When we have courage to stand up to white man? We have more than 1 Billion people. Why we accept white man for everything and critize our team? We still world champs. One more fact:England invented the game of cricket but they never won one day world championship. We won twice. So Indian team is better and we are proud of you.

 2. j venkatesh says:

I think we are yet to come out of the colonial mentality and that is why we are subdued in all aspects. We are brave only when we fight among ourselves. The writer is perfect in his view that we should have come back citing the arson and looting that was taking place in front of their hotel and therefore we could have avoided the disaster at Birmingham. Regarding sporting spirit, it applies to us only. If the same thing happens to our players English/Australians/Proteas would not have relented and would justify the dismissal only as per the cricket rules. Unlike English coach and captain, our coach and skipper would not have gone to the opponents dressing and beg to reconsider the appeal. But ECB and other white nations forget their coffers are being filled up only because of BCCI.
