On a small little thing there are riots and fires are lit
No one is safe, Walking by people get there turbans taken off

This Ego of Religion doesn’t care whose Neck they chop off

Ik ajj kal babey ne batti lal gaddi te la ti
Ik baba nanak si bai Jihne jeenay tur ke duniya gaa ti

Kanu tappey stagean te rakh ke baja tu vi Gaa lai
Tere baag pal gaya hai ja center vich Kuli pa lai

Ik baba nanak si bai jihne turke duniya gaa ti
Ik ajj kal babey ne batti lal gaddi te la ti
Ik baba nanak si bai jihne turke duniya gaa ti

A lot of thoughts go by ones mind when idle , today as I sat in my car to drive to work, I had this  how do I say chaos of thoughts and none matched the one that just went by it was all going in tangents, at one time I was home and the next I was thinking of Cricket or the Fast taken by Anna Hazaare. I had to literally sit down and SHAKE my head severely to bring it back in sync with normalcy :), if that is possible.

Well I am trying to jot down the thoughts now these may hurt a lot of people so I am sorry to them but as usual would ask them to think on the wider picture and logically.. The recent few events that have happened back home have been good Рbad and Ugly.. I mean world cup happened I wanted to write a post on it but blogosphere is full of articles so I did not post though I had one in the drafts, The whole nation became one in that one last week of the matches , australia-Pakistan-Sri Lanka all defeated in a row thanks to some good cricket played by our team .. but other then that it was the spirit of the indians which came to the fore how we all got together, here in UK too it was evident everyone in pubs wearing the Blue shirts and cheering till throats went hoarse ..

That was the GOOD… ¬†

Then came the chain of events where Anna hazaare¬†along with a whole lot of people took this fast to get the Govt of india to their knees , which was a Very good thing that finally the Govt. got so scared that they could not afford something happening to Anna , they had to relent to it, brings to mind the satyagraha taken by Indians against the British people but there was a STARK DIFFERENCE at that time the whole country was one but now only a handful which was a shame , Out of Billions of People just a meagre few .. I know a lot of the Intelligent people out there will say it’s a START, but I am as usual cynical start of what, Things can’t get achieved by a few going on a fast , their have to be a vast majority of people who need to give there¬†support.¬† Not forgetting about the rumours that just came after the fast was broken many of the distinguished people in the group had political problems , I will not get into the details cause somewhere in my heart I knew this would happen. True there are some genuine people who want things to change but those genuine people are few, and as the poem i¬†posted I don’t believe in the Khadi wearing leaders.¬†¬† They are all the same , some have hundreds of skeletons in their cupboard , some just One but they do have.

Well I don’t want to go on and on¬†about that , I do support the Cause started by Anna Hazare, but as I¬†said earlier I don’t support the khadi¬†wearing people, To me I still feel that we need to make a loud noise to make sure the DEAF hear us and that will only come true if the current generation and the one coming up behind will get together, I mean I was watching the IPL match between Kings XI and One more team I forgot the name I think it was Mumbai indians and the stadium had more people in it then the number of people who actually GENUINELY went out and supported the anti corruption Cause. That is the reality of our great nation.

That was BAD

I have so many question running around, a soldier in the army gets paid to fight for the country for which he is ready to give his life, they live in conditions where the majority of so-called Desh Bhagats wont even survive one day, What they are doing is real work then why do we start comparing a sports man as a soldier of the country as it happened in the Cricket match against Pakistan, Everyone saw the crowd there, people spent LAKHS of rupees to get a ticket to watch that match but I am sure NONE of them spent a thousand to buy a bus ticket to go to Delhi to sit with the people who were fasting.

How come none of the sportsmen who when it comes to recognition come in herds and then moan how they are paid less or not thought of , come in support.  I mean with no disrespect to the supporters of GOD of cricket Sachin Tendulkar, I am myself a fan of his and he is GOD , Why could he not have come in support and gone and sat there for a fast, I mean he is made his life, his future generations life living in india , the love and affection he has got, I do feel that someone like him Should have supported the cause and then MAYBE the cricket frenzy public would have done more and not just their are a few who can be named who are willing to take millions from the nation but give nothing in return and i say nothing BECAUSE when they lose they are not accounted for. none of them say of I wont take the match fee for this one because we lost.

True the govt has agreed to the terms of the Cause but that is it , Nothing is going to happen the govt has just agreed to put the bill in the session whether something actually takes place once passed we have yet to find out, the reason being each and every leader will have to step down or brought to justice cause they are the Khadi wearing politicians and that to bright White starched ironed ones.  If we think something will change then who are we kidding.

That is UGLY

HENCE my thought that till we ALL get together MILLIONS-BILLIONS  and make that NOISE the noise that will wake up the deaf-blind govt we have things will not change.

Child Abuse – Signs and Symptoms

Child abuse is any form of physical, emotional or sexual mistreatment or lack of care that leads to injury or harm.

It commonly occurs within a relationship of trust or responsibility and is an abuse of power or a breach of trust. Abuse can happen to a child regardless of their age, gender, race or ability. Abusers can be adults (male or female) and other young people, and are usually known to and trusted by the child and family

Although these signs do not necessarily indicate that a child has been abused, they may help adults recognise that something is wrong. The possibility of abuse should be investigated if a child shows a number of these symptoms, or any of them to a marked degree:

Sexual Abuse

  • Being overly affectionate or knowledgeable in a sexual way inappropriate to the child’s age
  • Medical problems such as chronic itching, pain in the genitals, venereal diseases
  • Other extreme reactions, such as depression, self-mutilation, suicide attempts, running away, overdoses, anorexia
  • Personality changes such as becoming insecure or clinging
  • Regressing to younger behaviour patterns such as thumb sucking or bringing out discarded cuddly toys
  • Sudden loss of appetite or compulsive eating
  • Being isolated or withdrawn
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Lack of trust or fear of someone they know well, such as not wanting to be alone with a babysitter or child minder
  • Starting to wet again, day or night/nightmares
  • Become worried about clothing being removed
  • Suddenly drawing sexually explicit pictures
  • Trying to be ‘ultra-good’ or perfect; overreacting to criticism

A child may be subjected to a combination of different kinds of abuse.
It is also possible that a child may show no outward signs and hide what is happening from everyone

Sexual development progresses through a number of different phases:

  • infancy
  • young school age
  • pre-adolescence
  • adolescence

Each stage has behaviours which are considered ‚Äėage-appropriate’., although it is also normal to a see a child exhibiting behaviour from the age group immediately above or below them.

If a child has learning difficulties or behavioural difficulties, it is important to consider their developmental stage.

Many adults are uncomfortable when they see children displaying sexual behaviour. Our judgements are affected by age, gender, personal experiences, cultural background, religious beliefs and profession.

It is normal for children of all ages to play and experiment and be curious about their own and each other’s bodies.

Ask yourself the Following questions

1.¬† ¬† Does the child seem ‘normal’ for their age?
2.   Do they seem emotionally or socially withdrawn?
3.   Are they unusually aggressive?
4.   Does the child seem dirty or smelly?
5.   Are they bruised or cut in any way?
6.   Is the child left at home by themselves?
7.   Are they left out late at night?
8.   Is their home clean and tidy?
9.   Does the child spend time with their family?
10. Do they seem to have a good relationship?

And Talk to your Kids… Always

Your child might not be abused but they might have Seen something happen to some other child, Talking is the best and most powerful tool we have.  Understand this that Sometimes children do not realise that certain behaviour is OK in private but not in public. Or they do not realise that their behaviour is upsetting or harming other children.  They may be uncomfortable talking about sexual issues and may also be worried they are in trouble so your tone and manner are very important. Or you might see this happening to other kids in your locality SPEAK UP.

So towards Mount Abu or Udaipur did not matter to me. But seeing the glee on my cousin’s face, we decided we will go that way. Let him also go to his school and boast how he went to Mount Abu on a bike, impress some girls.

So we left. I think the stone mountains and all that I mentioned earlier in the story, it was here early morning. We meandered our way through the VAST emptiness. IT was EMPTY. Believe me when I say it. Nothing was visible just vegetation, rocks, huge hills and once in a while a truck would come by. Later we were told that place was notorious for Dakus (bandits). ūüôā No idea if it was true or not. It did not matter to us because we were the kings of the Road, zooming our way.

We had stopped worrying about the bike too. It had made it till here and we were confident it will do another 700 or 800 kms more.  Ah we SO we thought. It was only later we got to know it was not THAT far.

Around 11 or 12 noon, we saw a depleted Dhaba on the road side, and nothing for miles and miles. There was an old truck parked outside it. We were hungry so we stopped. We asked the guy what was on offer. Channa masala with Jawaar Roti ( I am sorry I don’t know the English equivalent to Jawaar, Chick peas curry).

The guy had smiled when we ordered the Channa masala. I came to know why when I took the first bite. IT WAS ONLY RED CHILLIES! OH MY GOD!! I was on fire!

How were the others eating it?

We had tears in our eyes. My cousin gulped the one Glass of water we had.  By the time the next one came I had used the choicest Punjabi slangs. My god! No wonder the guy was smiling, he knew it all and to top it all I remember him being KIND to me and asking if I would like to have a couple of Green chilies with the salad. To which I had said YES. I bet he was rolling in laughter when he heard that. We could not finish the curry so we got some egg bhurji made WITHOUT CHILLIES to finish our lunch.

Came out of the dhabha¬†and my cousin remarked “Hava¬†Khat haigi pichle tyre ch (it seems there is less air in the rear tyre).” As if we could see and make out. It was desert and the tyre was a little inside the sand. Anyhow, we both agreed we have less AIR so at first available place we will get it filled.

Started with our ride and a few kms later we reached a village, where we found a guy repairing bicycles. Miraculously he had one of those mechanical air-pressure things, with which you fill air in tyres. You know what I mean. But he had no meter to read how much it’s filled. It was blind leading the blind, trying to squeeze the tyre with our hands to see if it’s enough.

Ah well, at some stage we found that the tyre was full. Till now my cousin had been driving, so we exchanged and for some reason we put the haversack on the petrol tank. Oh I remember now… We had it strapped by the side but we did not notice that the rear tyre had been scrubbing against it so the straps had torn off. I remember it was about 3-4 in evening and we were heading towards a town called PALI.

As it had been throughout the scenery, the drive was awesome. There was hardly any traffic. I have recently visited Australia and I can tell you, and those who read this can quote me on this, some of the views were as breath-taking as I saw in OZ; it was amazing, for miles nothing, far away a Green Tree, some huts and animals grazing. It was beautiful. While we were admiring all this…

BOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM

Next second I was on the road, sliding down, the haversack and me going on top of each other a couple of times. I could feel some pain in my shoulder. The bike had slid to the other side of the road. My turban had flown away. My shoe was not on my foot and It felt HOT. I got up checked myself: NOTHING HAD BROKEN although had lost pieces of my jeans at places along with the skin on my leg. There was blood on my eyebrow.  I had lost one arm to my shirt.. along with lot of skin.. but it did not seem bad ..

Then PANIC set in… Where is my cousin? I saw him lying motionless middle of the road.

GODS WERE INDEED LOOKING DOWN ON US. There was no traffic, else anything could have driven over him.

I went up to him and shook him. Nothing. MORE PANIC… He is dead. Shook him again, he opened his eyes. I thanked god that he was alive. He too had some parts of his jeans missing, blood on his legs and a big gash on his arm. His turban was mysteriously intact though… I pulled him off the road. There were small mound of rubble so lay him there.

Then went on to check on the bike and Oh My God! The poor bike had taken the brunt.

1. The petrol tank had squeezed.

2. The Rear tyre RIM was not round anymore.

3. The rear type had burst.

4. Some sort of OIL was leaking.

All in all, I felt pretty sure that the ROAD TRIP had finished there. The poor bike had, had it. Now, the sun was coming down, we had no idea where we were or what to do. A couple of trucks had passed, no one stopped. My cousin lay on the rubble as if he was dead and asking for WATER. I guess the drivers probably thought he was dead hence no one stopped.

It was getting dark when finally a small truck stopped. The driver got down. I asked for water and he gave me a bottle of water. He went to check on my cousin. By this time I had made my cousin get up and SIT so at least he did not appear to be dead to motorists. He asked the same question, “Where to?” I explained to him how we had started from Chandigarh. He shook his head.

I had to tell him where Chandigarh was. He had never heard of the place before. He told me that he could take me and my cousin to the next town Pali where we could do something about the bruises etc we had got.

So we sat in the truck.. had gone a few metres when we realised the BIKE was still back there so we had to request the driver , to get the bike too, the poor guy had to reverse the truck.. the bike was BAD.. got a rope tied it and pulled it up, sort of hanging on the back.. by now the bruises had started to hurt , you know when the blood has clotted .. its swollen a bit OUCH…

Reached PALI..  we were dropped by a Dhaba again.. and introduced to Two sikh gentleman, shabbily dressed they were DRIVERS of a truck bearing Haryana Number :).. were going to Mumbai with a load.

They too had a nice little joke at our expense , but then the Punjabi Hospitality took over..

The guys Oh god bless them..

The bigger sardar of the two.. gave the other one¬†30 rupees to take me and my cousin to the local dispensary, for bandages… Who would do that today ?¬† He took us to the dispensary where we got tetanus shots.. bruises had the iodine put on , That yucky dirty yellow thing , yuck… cuts cleaned and bandaged….

Back to the Dhaba.. it was nearly night-time .. We were offered Dinner.. All paid for I still remember it was one plate of Chicken tandoori, the black Daaal, with salad consisting of onions,Tomatoes,Raddish and Rotis

WOWOW¬†we ate like Pigs.. and to top it all the Dudh¬†Patti (milk tea)¬†wowo… this was not all , the Two guys had put our bike on top of the truck cabin… If you see a Truck where the drivers sit there is some space above the roof.. its like an Open Trunk.. the Bike was put up there, safely tied …

Now this was a nice new truck.. there was a drivers seat.. a Passenger seat behind them were Two small Sleepers.. probably for the guys to sleep or rest while one drives. We were treated so nicely that we were given both the berths to sleep. what else would one want .. Bruises taken care of, Well Fed .. Place to sleep WOW almost a hotel accommodation…

We set off towards Ahmedabad.. the younger Guy was driving first , after some time¬†the two of them Took out a Quarter Each .. of Home made whiskey or something .. put it in the steel glass and gulp gulp¬†they did in one sip…Bloody hell¬†I¬†thought WE made it on the bike but tonight if we hit we are gone case.. God surly wont keep us the second time …. I guess I dozed off after some time…

Waking up in the morning we had reached the outskirts , we found a STD booth from where we called up my uncle telling him what had happened .. there was the customary.. “YOU reach home .. will talk then“..

ooops bloody hell we had had it.. (and my cousins dad he is 6ft and BIG really BIG bloke ,Well built ,  I thought he was going to beat the SH___ out of us.)

Around midday we reached Ahmedabad.. my uncle was standing at one of the CHOWKS.. the truck stopped we got down and guess what .. Uncle Ji came and HUGGED US BOTH… before the YOU IDIOTS .. WHY would you do this started…….. The bike was left at a mechanic..

All in all it was an EXCELLENT TRIP… I would do it anytime again

WarmSunshine  suggested this song to me .. thanks to her I found this lovely song .. hope you all like it tooo ..

I know they say you cant go home again.
I just had to come back one last time.
Ma?am I know you don’t know me from Adam.
But these handprints on the front steps are mine.
And up those stairs, in that little back bedroom
is where I did my homework and I learned to play guitar.
And I bet you didn?t know under that live oak
my favorite dog is buried in the yard.

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
Out here its like i’m someone else,
I thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just come in I swear i’ll leave.
Won?t take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.

Mama cut out pictures of houses for years.
From ?Better Homes and Garden? magazines.
Plans were drawn, concrete poured,
and nail by nail and board by board
Daddy gave life to mama?s dream.

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
Out here its like i’m someone else,
I thought that maybe I could find myself.
If I could just come in I swear i’ll leave.
Won?t take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.

You leave home, you move on and you do the best you can.
I got lost in this whole world and forgot who I am.

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
Out here its like i’m someone else,
I thought that maybe I could find myself.
If I could walk around I swear i’ll leave.
Won?t take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.

And Leave you all with these lovely pictures of My home .. Back home in India Have a Great Week ūüôā
