London Dreams is it Worth. THINK

Posted: November 30, 2009 in Lecture, Life, UK

I was in London a couple of weeks back, on some work. After work I thought about meeting a few lads who had come from India recently a few I know of. Reached south hall to the rendezvous point met up with the guys, went into the glassy junction for a couple of drinks.

As the conversation progressed I could feel some uneasiness among them, We were about 8 of us, my cousin one of them who had come on a 2 year Study visa, which was astonishing for me cause , my cousin is not intellectual types , to be blunt he managed to get through his primary education after lot of struggle, How he managed to get admission for higher studies in UK, I have no clue of, I did not even have knowledge that he was trying to come abroad, I had got a call a day prior to his landing.

Well it so happened that Two of the guys had to go back, as it was there SHIFT to sleep, Yes I was surprised, dumbstruck… on further probing found that there were 6 of them living in a room with a double bed, they had put an extra bed in the room, so 3 of the boys slept in morning as they worked nights, the other 3 slept at night cause they were on day shifts. The shift they were doing was 12 to 14hours, though they were being paid cash… it was far below the Minimum rate of pay. One of them was paid 2.75 an hour, that’s Shambolic.

Jobs are hard to come by because of the recession. Many young men and women are forced to work illegally beyond the permissible hours and are paid a pittance. They cannot raise their voice because it is illegal for them to be working more than 20 hours a week according to the visa restrictions, because they had come on Study visa. I really felt bad at the situation they were in , Why did they come to UK, the lure of pastures green, But it is not so, the current economic crisis, the Recession has taken a toll everywhere, work is very limited, too many hands available for the same job.

A large number of Indian youth are barely surviving that too with the generosity of the gurdwaras in SouthHall, so many have spent fortunes, lakhs of rupees, My cousin himself has had his father mortgage piece of land to secure admission in dubious British institution to obtain a valid visa. Some of the youth have arrived illegally.

The money they brought helped them for a month or two but what now, they are unable to afford the fee in such institutes or pay for their accommodation. A Cheap room in southhall costs about 40 to 50 pounds a week.

It’s still ok for the boys , but the girls are having a harrowing time, They are in bad state the ones living on their own, they are having to share with others, even boys, Back home parents are thinking there kids are living there life, IT IS NOT SO, the real picture is something different for those who are uneducated, come illegally, Or have come after taking admission thinking that the visa is for 2 years they can earn on the Side, IT IS NOT SO. My cousin has been for 6 weeks now, he has not been able to get a job, even in the farms or as labor. I don’t want to go into the stories I was told, because it upset me a lot. Why are the youth willing to spoil their youth to come here, I mean the amount of money they have spent to come abroad, if they spent that at home on some business or doing something it would still be better than coming here and languishing.

If I tell this to my RELATIVES they come back with choice of words, that since I am here in UK, enjoying my stay and making my life, I am only jealous that the rest of the cousins will come over, I MEAN WTF.

Things are really bad, Thanks to the Gurudwara sahib’s that food is available to the youth, otherwise they will be in so much trouble, they don’t have money to return back home too, It’s still ok for my cousin, he can come over to me or borrow some money from me, but on a bigger picture it’s not worth, spoiling your youth over it. None of them have Medical or insurance, if something happens what are they going to do.

Please please All who read this, Please make sure before you or anyone you know of makes a decision to come abroad, you have the facts right, Do your spade work, find out if it is really any worthwhile coming all this way, Wasting the hard earned money of your parents or even putting them under Debt.

Everybody hopes to live in a better environment socially and economically. But it’s not possible for people to get that without struggle. It is the responsibility of the person to determine how much struggle is justified for the cause. The cause can’t be worth it, if the existence occurs merely from hand to mouth. Like the very famous slogan: Dikhave pe na jao, Apni akal lagao 🙂

I remember last year I was on way home from work when the news probably had come about the attacks, I had not heard about it, my collegue rang me, her voice was very light, the ones which mean something has happeend, a chill ran my back, the she asked do i have any relatives in mumbai, I said no, she seemed releived on enquiring i got to know about the attack, the first reaction was WTF.. WHY.. and then the thing that hit me the most was that i had visited mumbai, had our lunch at leopold restaurant just a couple of months ago, I was shocked, it was such a busy place, we had to wait to get a table, logging on to the bbc i could not make head or tail waht was going on, various headlines were coming, a few pictures were being flashed about the devastation done by the terrorists.

Then this year in may or june there was a program broadcast by the BBC which showed the actual video footage of the operation, the cctv footages inside the hotel, slowly painting the horrific events of that day. How the indian forces were just not prepared they had no clue what was going on. The Mumbai police headquarters were just round the corner, yet they could not reach on time, Individuals showed valour, bravery at the face of atrocities, a lone police man with the HARAPPA CIVILIZATION RIFLE, fired against a burst of AK 47.. A few others.. I regret not recroding that program, i got too engrossed in it. At one stage i was so angry i wanted to break something. I was watching and hearing the satellite link phone conversations of the attackers with there handlers, how they were using the phrase too often about “Allah being there”.. I mean come on which religion teaches hatred , or kill a fellow human being.

It was a night when a handful of attackers held the country and did what as they pleased, yes thats what i would say, since there was nothing being done to stop them, The top ranking officials in police died, The navy commandoes or some army commandoes who have a base of less then 5kms from the hotel could not make it on time.

Inspite of all the politics or what was done or not done, fair enough, we were not prepared for it But ARE WE NOW..  We have not learnt from our mistakes every other day our PM asks Pakistan to curb down its ideas , to stop cross border terrorism as a national policy. THATS IT. Sure loads of committies were created to investigate, but other then that i doubt it .

I visited mumbai again this year , went to the places to see , the best thing , the reason why i am saying we have not learnt anything is , we went to india gate, its sort of blocked by security personal, I was thinking of taking a boat ride we moved, there was this guy sitting in black clothes , a paan in his mouth , A cigaratte in one hand , a lady security officer with him, both had metal detectors as we crossed It definitely beeped , but they did not bat a eyelid.. My friend had a big purse with her, she was asked to put the purse on table , the lady officer moved her detector over it , BEEP BEEP BEEP, the light went red .. and the lady said Jaiye.. I mean WHAT… I had a smirk, my friend knew exactly what I wanted to say. COME ON.. open the damn purse Look into it , It could have had anything.

The ridiculous thing is there is a case going on against a lone terrorist captured alive, he is living it up, I mean what proof do the judges want,
1. Did they not see the news
2. Did they not see the CCTV footage
3. Are they Blind…

It is true justice delayed is justice denied, when will justice be given to those who lost there loved ones that fateful night. Why Is this guy alive. He should be taken to the CHAURAHA and hanged, to show those who are working against our nation that this will not be tolerated.

The politicians were quick to codemn this all, I can bet my life they are ready asking there PA’s or there speech writers a week in advance to write the best speech cause all these people will come out on 26th november 2009, to shout at top of there EVIL voice how touched they were, how they have done this or that for the city, some will even blame the people in power at that time the usual Mud slinging , we indians love those speeches , cause thousands will brave the weather , miss the days work, to go to the big huge maidans to listen to these leaders shouting hoarse, to top it all we will be standing , CLAPPING OUR HANDS. so and so minister Zindabad. blah blah blah…

27th november will come, VOILA the so called leaders will be back, Mr Thackrey wil be back again shouting hoarse about Marathi.. WTF, What does it matter.. a few more committies will be created to see what the committies created earlier did.

People like Sachin Tendulkar will probably be asked to leave the city, I am wondering when will shiv sena activists go on rampage against his hotel, house .. family. What you doing guys dont you have a job to do … Divide the nation furthur Go on my lovies get up, create some chaos, 26th nov, came and went…

The police is as usual, spending hours and hours investigating, coming with the one result they come out with always ITS THE POLITICIANS… or something else .. so the pointing of fingers is at its best now , will continue for a week .. then the lull .. till obviously 2010…

The people of MUMBAI , SALUTE THEM .. who have got up inspite of all these atrocities, the weather, nature, MAN.. terrorist attacks.. the riots.. so much has happened in this city alone.. yet the MUMBAIKERS… yeah the MUMBAIKERS… have got up and Standing strong.. which just shows that the average citizens shrugged it off , to face it, cause i dont think situation has changed for them, they are still in the firing range, easy target.

My heart goes out to all those who have suffered, deepest sympathies to all. To all those brave people who took the attackers head on, helped others when they needed, I jsut prey and wish that like atrocities bring out the helping nature in people NORMAL times also makes it come out, Lets help each other, treat each other as we would like to be treated ourselves.

Let all get together save our great nation going to the devil. Lets all today think of those people who are no longer with us , may there soul rest in peace.

We are indians first ALWAYS.. EVERY TIME.

Hmmmm I am in a funny mood … Feeling a bit nostalgic about home. emotional, feel like crying…

Why is it felt bad when a man cries, I dont think there is any harm in that anyway today i dont want to discusss this , else i will go on a tangent again.. and miss the point…

I was driving my old car, I bought it with my first salary here in Uk, its 9 years old now , its become a old banger now, but I have it , Everyone says i need to sell it off but NA, I am going ot keep it Got emotions attached to it , So i use it day in day out, It has never given me any trouble what so ever.. EVER… runs like a wind… I have another car I imported from India 🙂 yeah silly me, but I am like that. Its a Tata safari, But I dont use it that often… I am in love with my mitsubishi carisma…

I did go on a tangent there .. so I was saying Driving, I was listening to some songs when this song hit me

Chad chad chanda sohniya, tun kar roshniyaan ve
vekh ke tainu, watan diyaan kuch yadaan aiyaan ve
nahin bhulaiya bhuldiyaan , piplaan diyaan chavaan oye

(rise oh moon, and spread some light, seeing you reminds me of my hometown, cant forget the shadows of the trees, beautiful punjab , my punjab)

Chan de naloon Sohniyaan , mere Pind diyaan galiyaan
Galiyaan de which KHED ke kuch Rijhaan Paliyaan
Haani mere haan de MERE DIL DE JAANI
jithe bachpan bitiyaa te Chadhi jawaani..
Oh bachpan bitiyaa Main kiven bhulavaan

My village streets are much good looking than the moon itself, the street where i spent my childhood and became a young man.. The streets in where I played having all those wishes-wants in my heart. My friends , the kids of my age, how do i forget them the guys the people I love from my heart
How can I ever forget the streets where I spent my childhood

akhiyan moohre khedde oh khushiyan Khere
Chal Manna uth chaliye sajna de wehde
Sajna baaj na Sohndiyaan eh Sohniyaan thavaan oye

I can still see the fun and frolic happening in front of my eyes , Get up lets go back , cause these good looking , nice places, beautiful places dont look that great and beautiful without the loved ones..
… sorry cant convert fully but i hope you get the Jist of it all..

The loved ones i left behind, As i was driving I dont know why I had tears in the eyes and when the song ended i was crying. The funny part was they just came.

A very exciting thing happeend

THE BEST THING ( we think that as we grow old, we loose touch from people who mean so much to us, you think sometimes will they remember anything) Well before I reached work I stopped the car by the motorway in the parking bay.. I called up a number , a number which is not in my phone book, or in any diary but its sort of etched in my brain.. 009194…. I just dialled, I was hoping it would be the correct number..

“HELLO”… came a voice … when i heard the voice, the memory came back where in those good days , we had met each other for first time , and said Hello…IT WAS HIM..

“OYE MANN, Teri bh__, teri ___ , tun ___ £$%£ $%£$ , more more and more “

and suddenly the tears that were flowing , turned there flow a bit higher BUT I WAS LAUGHING I had a smile big enough ear to ear. I bet the passerby’s would be thinking whats going on with this indian bloke.

After the initial choicest words of LOVE – EFFECTION he he he funny the same words felt like honey to the ears, whereas otherwise it would have been War…

“Yaar kithe hain… INDIA”…

“Check the number idiot” I said …

“When you coming , ajja yaar “… and we talked for 20 odd mintues , OH yes got late to work… but that was not on my mind ….

I had called this person after almost a year , but the first word he recognised… Funny how we go miles apart take ages to contact, whatever the reason.. But I know one thing that in my hour of need HE WILL BE THERE STANDING, no matter how many years go by without being in touch.
Maybe it was my fault , well not maybe IT IS.. my fault I should have contacted earlier.. but we have become so busy in lifes that time has become a necessity.. So I have promised my self every weekend I am going to call at least 2 people i care for.

I remember about 3 years ago, I was with someone very close to me, we dialled a number cause She wanted to know if my friends remember me , we dialled and the same reaction “OYE MAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN”

Mann is my surname BTW before you guys think its MAN.. I am a Man too but its my surname MANN he he he he

It has ELATED Me so much, I feel so light and LOVED mmmmmmmm its a warm feeling.. to be loved and cared for… And Now i am ready for the day to any challenge that may come my way ….

So guys anyone reading this, pick that phone up dial a number, get in touch with someone you have not been in touch for ages. Give it a Go you never know what you will hear when you say the word “HELLO”.. hopefully after you have pressed the red button on your mobile to end the call.. you will have a beaming smile, READY to take on the WORLD… and your heart singing

Nach lai Ga lai , bhangre pa lai, mauj mana lai yaraa
eh din roj roj nahin aune , appan khushiyaan naal handaune
nachna aap te YAAR nachaune , oye aish mana lai

hmmmm …. Good luck people…

Punjab police: A Touching moment :)

And we should feel safe , cause if we are scared we can always call on the police for help who will RUN to get to us as quickly…

This ABSOLUTELY applies to ALL of us who send e-mails. Please read the short letter below, even if you’re sure you already follow proper procedures.

Do you wonder why you get viruses or junk mail? Do you hate it? Every time you forward an e-mail there is information left over from the people who got the message before you, namely their e-mail addresses and names. As the messages get forwarded along, the list of addresses builds, and builds, and builds, and all it takes is for some poor sap to get a virus, and his or her computer can send that virus to every E-mail address that has come across his computer. Or, someone can take all of those addresses and sell them or send junk mail to them in the hopes that you will go to the site and he will make five cents for each hit. That’s right, all of that inconvenience over a nickel! How do you stop it? Well, there are several easy steps.
Try the following if you haven’t done it before:

(1) When you forward an e-mail, DELETE all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message (at the top). That’s right, DELETE them. Highlight them and delete them, backspace them, cut them, whatever it is you know how to do. It only takes a second. You MUST click the “Forward” button first and then you will have full editing capabilities against the body and headers of the message. If you don’t click on “Forward” first, you won’t be able to edit the message at all.

(2) Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the To: or Cc: fields for adding e-mail addresses. Always use the BCC:(blind carbon copy) field for listing the e-mail addresses. This is the way the people you send to will only see their own e-mail address. If you don’t see your BCC: option click on where it says To: and your address list will appear. Highlight the address and choose BCC: and that’s it, it’s that easy. When you send to BCC: your message will automatically say “Undisclosed Recipients” in the “TO:” field of the people who receive it.

(3) Remove any “FW :” in the subject line. You can re-name the subject if you wish or even fix spelling.

(4) ALWAYS hit your Forward button from the actual e-mail you are reading. Ever get those e-mails that you have to open 10 pages to read the one page with the information on it? By Forwarding from the actual page you wish someone to view, you stop them from having to open many e-mails just to see what you sent.

(5) Have you ever gotten an email that is a petition? It states a position and asks you to add your name and address and to forward it to 10 or 15 people or your entire address book. The email can be forwarded on and on and can collect thousands of names and email addresses. A FACT: The completed petition is actually worth a couple of bucks to a professional spammer because of the wealth of valid names and email addresses contained therein. DO NOT put your email address on any petition. If you want to support the petition, send it as your own personal letter to the intended recipient. Your position may carry more weight as a personal letter than a laundry list of names and email address on a petition. (And don’t believe the ones that say that the email is being traced, it just ain’t so!)

Some of the other emails to delete and not forward are:

1. The one that says something like, “Send this email to 10 people and you’ll see something great run across your screen.” Or sometimes they’ll just tease you by saying ‘something really cute will happen.‘ IT AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN!!!!! (We are still seeing some of the same emails that we waited on 10 years ago!)

2. I don’t let the bad luck ones scare me either, they get trashed.

3. Before you forward an ‘Amber Alert’, or a ‘Virus Alert’, or some of the other emails floating around nowadays, check them out before you forward them. Most of them are junk mail that’s been circling the net for YEARS!
So please, in the future, let’s stop the junk mail and the viruses.

Finally, here’s an idea!!! Read this and tell everyone we know . This is something that SHOULD be told, so do it.

??? Question mark

I have had a veyr bad day today, I was very happy when i woke up but as the day progressed it became worse and worse..
Do you feel sometimes nothing is going your way , the people you want to talk to are more interested in something petty going on… well petty for you but may be important for them. I wish i could talk to someone, someone who would genuinly be interested in whats happening in my life rather than make a talk of it.
Why is it so difficult to make someone happy, I have had a bad day Wish i had some body near by its times like this that i repent coming to uk, back home i would have lots of people ready to give me the jadoo ki jaffi.. BACK HOME…
I sometimes think i am not meant for this world.. why do i even bother if they dont bother about me, why should i bother about them. Why cant i just walk away. Why do i have to try again to patch up or try to give it another try.. When will i learn OR WILL i learn ever, is there something wrong with me … I know I want to walk away but i dont .. what does that make me 🙂

Today i sent a song for a friend, but they had some other song sent to them which was better than mine….
I dont like people who lie to me , yet if they lie what should i do….

Ah well i am back home, been sent back home by a carer thinking i will go mad if i stayed at work… I am wondering how it all changes, one small thing spoils everything he he he he

a well like they say a Man is like a PACK of CARDS.. you need a
HEART to Love him
DIAMOND to Marry him
CLUB to hit him AND
SPADE to bury him…

bad BLOG….Apologies.. to all who read it .. But hey give me a HUG come on … A BIG PUNJABI BEAR HUGGGG…

When will there be India for INDIANS.. maharashtra is for maharashtrians… Punjab is for Punjabis, kashmir for kashmiris.. When and where will there be INDIA for INDIANS.

To call yourself Indian prior to being a Punjabi or maharashtrian, has become a big problem in the modern india. I think the sikhs in punjab should get together for the demand of KHALISTAN to be brought back, what the heck.. might as well. Since its the going trend, especially when the party in power Congress does nothing other then say a few words and BJP oh my oh my , MY dear party BJP ooops … its got itself on a slippery floor here, since its an ally of Shiv Sena… it could not come out as strong as others could. HYPOCRISY is what is written on the so called leaders, for sake of GOD, which ever god you guys can think of grow up for once in your life do something for the country, how so ever small it is instead of thinking of your own backyard.

This was exactly what congress did in punjab, first it let the radicals take over cause it was helping there cause against the other sects in punjab, but when it led to the rise of a leader, it went and launched a army attack on the most sacred place of sikhs. Is this not the same thing the Sikhs wanted Khalistan.. The Maharashtirans want Maharashtra, might as well give it to them and let them set there own country OUTSIDE INDIA, We dont want people who are so callous telling a Sports ICON, the whole world knows about him, telling that he said wrong regarding the statement, he is indian first and Mumbai belongs to All.

IT SURE DOES… If you don’t like it then get out of it .. go and make your own Mumbai somewhere but not on INDIAN SOIL.

People have died to get about this not just 105 as mentioned by the Shiv sena Supremo but Thousands , Thousands have given there life for the nation, Should we not start deciding on them too , which state they belonged to. The martyrs.

When will One of the so called leaders , the political leaders, the religious leaders WAKE UP.. and say that INDIA IS FOR INDIANS… its got no space for Punjabis,Kashmiris,Maharashtrians. We are Indians FIRST and FOREMOST. Those who have a problem with living together should pack there bags and get lost somewhere where they can set there own place. But not in this country. This country is called INDIA it is for INDIANS.

How much more low will we stoop, maybe time has come to go MOHALLA DIVIDING now , We have already done the states, cities now next level is MOHALLA’s, Then the next stage would be STREET dividing.

Every other country On this Planet , Even PAKISTAN for god sake , Every pakistani is proud to be Pakistani, they don’t go and say they are Lahorias, baluchistanis.. If we look seriously and think its only in india that RELIGIOUS Leaders use religion for there own purpose, For example look at Sikhism the youngest Religion in the world only 300+ years old, look at the state we are in. Our priests are doing there utmost to put it to shame. At least in Pakistan the Maulavis are GENUINLY trying to uplift there religion. We cant even do that in India, there is SOME ULTERIOR MOTIVE behind this also.

I will tell a story, there is a Famous sikh temple in Birmingham, UK, on the 300th year celebration of Khalsa, I went to the Gurudwars sahib, the Sant ji or the leader I dont know his name was standing, so out of Respect I said
“Waheguru ji ka Khalsa , Waheguru ji ki Fateh, 300 sala di bahut wadhiye hove”

Guess what was the Reply..

Each true SIKH has to reply back in the Fateh.. But This leader sahib was too big for that, Next two ladies come they touch his Feet “Baba ji Wadhai” and The dear Baba ji was Very pleased, he could not stop showering blessing on the ladies.

So this is where we are now. We cant say India is for indians for fear of OUR LEADERS.

WHEN WILL WE HAVE INDIA FOR INDIANS….. someone please tell me this

pssst:- I must emphasis before getting told off, the capitals are just to make my point, not shouting or angry.

NO one Attempted so I am giving the reply myself to save some blushes.. I got a couple emails with the reply.. but they were wrong too..

Its Impossible to only predict 4 out of 5. CAUSE that means they will automatically know that the 1 stock left is in 5th drawer so they will actually know 5 out of 5
not 4 out of 5 as the company wants.

Being Drunk

Posted: November 16, 2009 in Alcohol, being drunk

Have you ever seen what happens when you have ur drinks. It always seems you are the one who is not drunk whereas everyone else is drunk. And the question is how much have you drunk.. I always know how much I have drunk cause I can see all that I have thrown out on the floor 🙂 yeah thats how much I have drunk.

No one blames the alcohol for this. Its always ‘Oh, I ate something funny.’ Yeah the packet of crisp you had between the 5th double and the 6th double. Thats what CHURNED the stomach. And then you have to come back home it seems the whole world has conspired against u. SO much noise; the more discreet you try to be the more noise it generates. You reach home, open the door and it goes Ccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

It never makes the noise, but today it will cause your dad or mom need ot wake up to see u in that state. Is all a SAAZISH; everything is planning against you. The first step you take on the stair feels like you have stepped on one of those bubble things that may pop at any instant. The lighter you put your foot, the heavier it falls… THUD THUD THUD… You will hear your parents murmur something but you are too oblivious to it. You just need to get to your room and slump on the bed.

You climb up the stairs only to find you have just opened the door to your parents door… Oops! Or is it the neighbours house ha hahah that would be nice. I don’t drink. No, really. I know after the above few lines, you may be laughing reading this. But i don’t really… Ok, i don’t drink THAT MUCH he he he he.

I usually drink on occasions now. Earlier I used to drink with friends and all used to get together. I remember one incident I cant ever forget which made me always think the next time i drank. My parents like most parents did not know i drank. We try so hard to not let them know. But one day it happened. I did not realise i was drunk which is usually what happens when you are. Everyone else is drunk other than you. I reached home, my parents knew i was drunk they did not say a word. NOT A WORD. That was what hit me the most.

I sobered up, I could not see them in the eyes. From then on i promised myself this would not happen again and luckily its been a decade almost 10 years I have not made a fool of myself.
